Title: Just when I thought it was ending when
Post by barry_sword on Feb 15th, 2007, 7:36am
WHAM! A big hit at midnight last night. Verapamil was working very well at a fairly low dose for me with the exception of a few good shadows(360mg daily)

Head feels like, well you all know, and must put on a happy face and go to work to listen to everyones problems. >:(

Does the beast visit more at the end of a cycle or should I see my nero for upping my Ver. This cycle started Nov.06.

I have been on this board every day since I joined and you all have been so very helpful. Thank you for listening.

PF to all.  Barry

If your going OK at 360, side effect wise I mean, then yes. I'd ask to up the verapamil.

Thxs Chewy. I monitor my blood pressure daily and it is fine.
So upping the Ver. is probbaly(sp) the way to go. I will get the ok from my nero first though.
Thxs again.

I've heard a lot of people say their cycle likes to go out on a bang so here's hoping this is the beasts death throes - but I'd recommend asking about upping the verap too!
Hang in there Barry

My cycles are almost always different and it pisses me off.  Usually for me though they start like a train wreck and end like a car wreck.  My current one has me real worried.  The first attack was like a migraine from Thursday into Friday, I have them so I was not concerned.  Like an idiot I let my guard down.  Friday mid day it hit, on a scale 1-10 it was a twenty.  I almost called 911.  I took the largest dose of the meds I can when I have one and thankfully it knocked me out cold for five hours and I was so wore out I slept for another 13.  I have not had a full blown attack since, I have been careful and at the first sign or anything out of the norm I take the meds.  However I am feeling a little down and that is what bothers me, I am also not eating normally.

I think this is one down side of this demon, not like it isn’t a down side alone, but that most people don’t fall into a normal set of guidelines.  I know some of my docs start thinking of other excuses and I set them straight.  Thankfully whenever I go to the ER they listen to me and get me drugged up, they don’t poke or test me.

Hang tough and don’t fear the end, let it come and move on with your life.  If work gets you down find a quite place you can be alone for five minutes, a broom closet storage room something.  Don’t keep it all in, come here and unload.  Also, just call you Neuro’s office and tell them what your thoughts are, worst case they want you to come in.  Don’t stop living, keep fighting, I’ll keep you in thought-DJ

Thanks everyone. Home for lunch and feeling a little better but this morning was hell. Called my neuro and he said he wants to keep me on the 360mg Ver. for now. He also said if I start getting hit regularly then we are back on the Prednisone taper. He told me he will be there for me and is not taking off on holidays so just a phone call away if I need him.
I am ok with this decision and hope this is an isolated hit.
Thanks for the support and now back to putting on the happy face :P for the afternoon shift.

So happy you had good night last night and hoping that today and all days and nights to come will be pain free.

After handing me over $400 worth of Amerge samples (yes, it works for me), my doc wanted me to go back on the verapamil (currently on methysergide and lithium). I always save the verapamil as a last resort because it tends to make me, shall we say, lose interest in things I usually find fascinating. Anyhow, I've held off because I suspected this cycle was waning, and it's now been three whole days without a hit.

Don't get me wrong - verapamil is great stuff. It just doesn't get along very well with little Wilbur.

Wilbur, I agree with you about losing interest in things on Ver.,but for me to be PF it is worth it in every way.

May you have alot more PF days ahead. Take care.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. It works like a charm for me. But this cycle gave me plenty of warning, and my current regimen of meds has kept the beast to a level 4 or below. Plus, it seems like it might actually be on the way out (I know - kiss of death).

Many PF days to you as well, my friend.

It's been 5 days since my last hit. I was starting to get used to this PF stuff when at 11:30pm last night out of the blue I got a very hard hit. This lasted about 40 mins. :(

I feel so bad for anyone getting a hit(hits) and having to go on with their day. I just waste my time with my boss and co-workers about the way I feel this morning so I will go to work with my fake smile on and go on with my day as normal.

Just needed to share with others that really understand what it is like to be woken up out of a deep sleep and deal with ths herrific pain

Thank you for listening
