Title: Valentine's Day
Post by sandie99 on Feb 13th, 2007, 7:05am
Back here in Finland we celebrate our friends on Valentine's Day. The day is called "Day for Friends" in here. :)

Naturally, people with partners recall them as well.
My friends got their cards, I gave mum licorice and card and my boyfriend will get his gift tomorrow. I'd reveal it, but he might take a look at this post...

Tomorrow we're going to have a meal at somewhere special and spend the day together. I just love that! :)

How are you celebrating the day?

PF wishes,
Sanna

I'm going to spend it gloating on the fact that I once again didn't make the Hallmark Card Corp. any richer. ;;D

I'll probably get flowers and a card like I have for the past 12 years from hubby, after he gets home from werk.

Otherwise I'll be spending the day taking care of Eli.

Happy early VD day to all! ;)

We are planning on staying home while we get a foot or so of snow.

We usually have a candle light dinner  and my kids light every candle we own and set the table with china. And then I send my husband to bring in pizza or chinese food ;;D

In honor of the day I may make a nice dish of calves heart and lungs if I can find it, it's made in a Marinara... the italian name for the dish if Soufritte (Sp)

Nothing says I love you more than serving a nice bowl of calves heart.
Enjoy the day and your loved ones.

with warm regards,
Tony

Dear God - please tell me that you're using that as fertilizer for your garden and not feeding it to any human being!   ;)

Oh gawd y'all make me laugh!  LOL

I usually make somn special for everyone else.  Hubby and I usually just get each otehr cards, but no gifts or stuff like that.  Ladies, I have to say this:  Valentines Day is waay too commercial.  ALL of us need to say everyday that we love the people in our lives. What does one day mean?  Nothing. Its just another opportunity to show our love. Diamonds and flowers and stuffed teddies blah blah blah.......... means nothing compared to his sweet kiss everyday when he comes home.

btw:   did I mention today that I love you all?

Chewy, one "givemeafuckinbreak" and your ass is MINE, m'k?   LOL    j/k

Hugs to all,
Jen

Now I can reveal that I gave my boyfriend Hemingway's novel The Old Man and The Sea and dark chocolate. He collects Hemingway's novels and that one is his favourite. And he loves chocolate!

He gave me a beautiful poem he had written himself, a tiny plastic whale toy, lotus shower gel set and a soap shape of a heart. :) We're soon going to live together in a flat which has a bath tub, so I'm so excited that I will get to use my gifts... :D

It's hard to be clever and original after 27 years so she gets a card, a potted flower, and we go out dancing tonight.  (She hates when I spend a fortune for roses on the "expensive flower" days!)

Now I got to put her in touch with Melissa for details on the "other" presents!!! ;;D Happy V'day to all the lovely ladies on the board.

Well, we had reservations for dinner, but it's cold and there's snow and ice on the ground, so I'm voting for staying in and ordering food and having dessert later ;).

That's positively disgusting. Why not just serve it with fava beans and a nice chianti....

I had nice, romantic dinner plans for this evening until I read this. It made me throw up in my mouth a little.

Brew,  heart and lung is far more appetizing than cook half heads and "haGAGgas"  in my book.

Recipes vary, but the following is typical:

       1 sheep's paunch
heart, lung and liver of sheep
       salt
       white pepper
       hot red pepper (cayenne preferred)
       1 pound beef suet
1/8 tsp. nutmeg (or less to taste)
       2 onions, chopped
       6 oz. oatmeal, toasted
       3/4 pint beef stock

At least the organs are ground up and disguised.

Well, finally have the chicken cooking in the slowcooker, I went and picked up some flowers and a card for hubby along with his treats, and I even baked a heart shaped strawberry cake that'll be frosted with a cream cheese frosted with red & chocolate sprinkles.

I also dropped off a rose for Lily at her school, I'm sure she was surprised!

Oh how I love Love Day!!! ;;D

Well I was wrong.

He did not get me a card and flowers.  Instead he got me a card, 4 raw steaks and 3 packs of frozen shrimp.

Now he is out with his brother looking for deer horns. :-/

*sigh*

Well shit....that means ya gotta cook.    :o   What a bummer   :-/

Uhh...deer horns, at least in Texas....are usually  found on the deer's head...you know, attached.    [smiley=laugh.gif]   See deer....look for horns....shoot deer....have horns mounted...put deer meat in freezer.

This is not a difficult task...but you guys may do it a bit different "up there".      [smiley=laugh.gif]

Happy Valentine's Day, Mel.     You know you're the sweetest of the sweet!    :-*

Well, my Valentine is offshore working. He called and said to go buy myself a flower......YEAH RIGHT!!!

I went shopping alright. Forgot about the flower and bought clothes.

Now ask what I bought him for Valentine's Day???.......................

He gets to pay the bill!!!!!!!!!!!!      ;)

We usually celebrate with a nice evening of dining out. When he does come in from offshore though, there will be no good time for dining out. We're smack dab in the middle of MARDI GRAS here in Louisiana. So, won't catch me wasting time in a restaurant...........too many parades to catch up to.

JEAN, wanna come watch???      I promise it'll be a bigger parade than what you saw that time we were down in New Orleans........LOL

Hope everyone at least got to enjoy some pf time for their Valentine Day !!!

hugs,
EDNA

This year I decided to decorate the foyer with all valentine stuff, including red wrapped candy the kids could eat after...twizzlers, kit kat, skittles, big red, etc.  We exchanged cards, had pizza and the kids made Valentine Day cards for their Mom for when they see her tomorrow in the hospital.  It was a good day.
