Title: Fat City Post by georgej on Feb 11th, 2007, 1:42am EJ just got back from visiting her friend Shirley. They typically end up going to Barnes and Noble for coffee and book-hunting. Tonight, she brought home a new Carol O'Connell "Mallory" novel, and a new Dana Stabenow "Kate Shugak" novel. Two good hits at once. I'm in Fat City. So's El. I asked EJ to get her "Speaker for the Dead", since she enjoyed Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" so much. All happily reading for the next couple of days. :) Best, George |

Title: Re: Fat City Post by georgej on Feb 11th, 2007, 8:56pm Finishing up with Martin Davies' "The Conjurer's Bird" before I dive into the others--that book that would make a great movie. Best, George |

Title: Re: Fat City Post by sandie99 on Feb 12th, 2007, 5:43am I just love to read! :) I'm a fast reader. I have loads of books here at my tiny halls of residence room, lots of more back at my childhood home and few more at our summer cottage. My mum joked that when I moved back to Finland from UK I had one luggage filled with books... ::) Nearly the truth... ;) I'm currently reading Lauren Weisberger's Everyone Worth Knowing. The girl's gotta have some balance to the media theory books! ;;D Happy reading, Sanna |

I've yet to read that one, Tara. I love reading Dean Koontz. I'm impatiently waiting for book three to his "Frankenstein" series. It was supposed to be out last August, but since it is a story based in today's New Orleans, he had to put off the release to deal with issues like Katrina in it. Have you read any of his "Odd Thomas" books? I've read "Odd Thomas" and "Forever Odd." Jane currently has the most recent one, "Brother Odd," and should be finished with it tonight. Either tonight or tomorrow, I'll be starting that one. Stephen King is another favorite of mine. I loved the "Dark Tower" series. It's cool how so many characters from his other books ended up in the series. His most recent book that I have read is "Cell." Makes you think twice about answering that cell phone call. LOL |
