Title: aragosta. lobster. same thing. Post by Aragosta on Feb 9th, 2007, 2:44pm A few have already asked about the name change. Years ago I started gaming under the name 'Shrike'. Hyperion (Dan Simmons novel) came out, then everyone in the world started calling themselves 'Shrike'. So I changed it to Rock_Lobster, cuz the B52's rock. And life was good, as there are not too many people going by the name Rock_Lobster. Now games are out that require a unique handle... and while Rock_Lobster is uncommon it is not rare enough to actually snag. Thus comes Aragosta... my Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 tag. Aragosta is 'Lobster' in Italian. I will prolly change it back to Lobster here though, cuz im lobster and all that. http://www.sensationalbeginnings.com/images/p7864B.jpg |

Very, very little. My parents were from around Naples, I am US born and raised. They along with my grandparents spoke italian when they didn't want the kids to know what they were talking about... after years of that I kind of have a slight ear for it and I don't have a problem pronouncing it.. I'm just not fluent... and that just about kills me, because it's such a beautiful language. Where was your family from? with warm regards, Tony |

Title: Re: aragosta. lobster. same thing. Post by taraann on Feb 9th, 2007, 3:47pm My grandmother (nonny ;;D ) was from Italy and I'm ashamed to say I'm not sure where exactly. BUT I am not ashamed of my nack for lasagna, meatballs, and cooking skills thanks to her. I am not fluent at all. I know more French than Italian, my other side of the family is French (grandparents from that side are called mamae and papae well actually mae and pae for short). I just know a few words, and when I read the Italian I immediately though, "understand?" in italian, I heard that word alot as a kid lol. |

My father was born in Naples, and lived in the Vomero neighborhood. I go visit my aunts/uncles/cousins, etc as often as I can, usually every 2 years or so. Great city, with awesome food, and close to nice beaches (amalfi, capri, ischia, positano) in the summer. |
