Title: I can't believe I missed it.. Post by Redd715 on Feb 8th, 2007, 7:49pm Man.....I work my freaking ass off, and I met all my goals, but I didn't exceed them enough to earn the full commission for period one. Now mind you I didn't do that bad...but it really burns my britches when I miss the top commission by...get this, .33 percent. Less than $100.00 and that was due to having to kill that front page add that was so cheesy the client couldn't approve it. I know I need to get into the mind set that I still did well...met all goals set for me...but I'm an achiever. I do my job and I do it well. I guess it just feels like I missed the mark this time. I guess I'm just on edge with my Boss leaving, no one "on site" to make sure things are working smoothly, no one make account adjustments etc. when idiot reps, system managers, steal/mis-allocate revenue. Found out that this period, some azz wipe, from Corporate East stole the revenue from a national account I worked with for months. We are talking a fifth of my revenue goal for the month. I was steaming today. If I get screwed out of this chunk of revenue I'm going to raise holy hell! Sorry I just needed to rant... Rant over..thank you and PFDAN |

Title: Re: I can't believe I missed it.. Post by Wilbur on Feb 8th, 2007, 9:11pm Sure does suck when your own personal success is directly affected by the actions (or inactions) of others. Our objective/incentive system at my place of employment is, in large part, affected by forces and people over which I have no direct control. The proponents of such a system will tell you that it is designed to enforce better teamwork, etc., etc., blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada.... I say it smells, sounds and tastes like communism to me. I guess the alternative is to go into business for myself, but I'm too addicted to quit the corporate life now. Alas, what light at end of yonder tunnel breaks? Thy name is pension. |

Title: Re: I can't believe I missed it.. Post by Cathi04 on Feb 8th, 2007, 10:03pm It's a well-known game in Corporate America.give em a goal, albeit unacheivable, and watch em work for it. Dangling carrots is one way of keeping people in sales on-task. The moment you make that goal, they will stretch it to new heights. As long as they don't overguess you, you won't ever get that Bonus. My husband got it, 5 yrs in a row......they let him go, finally, and replaced him with 3 people....his best friend overacheived for 27 of his 35 yrs. He will be going to court soon to sue for false discharge. Do what you do, do it the best ya can, and don't order the Mercedes till the check is in your hand! Be proud of yourself. Cathi |
