Title: Never hit at work?
Post by jimmers on Feb 1st, 2007, 1:51pm
I have a friend who has been a fellow CH'r for years. He is in cycle again, but told me on Saturday that for the 25 years he has been dealing with the beast he has never, not once ever gotten slammed while at work. Is this strange, or is anyone else here like that? Just wondering.

Well if people get hit at night mainly then that would be true for a lot of people - touching wood - so far in his last three cycles Jasper has only had a couple of day time hits and only ever had one from being "awake" - the rest were from naps.

Over the years it has been extremely rare to get hit at work.  But when I do get hit it's a head basher.

Wish I was that fortunate. I keep two "D" tanks, a regulator and a mask under my desk at all times. Thank God I can close my door if necessary.

I've often wondered why that is. I never get hit at work. But within an hour afterward it's almost inevitable.

But I wait tables and I'm wound up at work. It's when I start to relax that I get hit. Just like going to sleep at night, when you just get to sleeping good, BAM!

It's my guess that not getting hit at work would only hold true for professions that cause you to be active with a good level of stress. I don't think I'd be as lucky with a desk job.

I don't often get hit at work, but I also take either Frova or Amerge at the start of the work day, and I think that prevents them for a good bit of time for me.  When I was rotating between day and night shift, I was getting hit at work a lot more often.  Only once have I needed a respiratory therapist to get an O2 setup for me when I got hit really badly at work and nothing was helping.  It used to be that my hits were only at night in the beginning, but now I certainly can get them during the day, and I'm fortunate that the frova and amerge prevent them for at least a small amount of time!

PF wishes,
Carrie :)

Yes, I get hit at work as I get hit around the clock, one week short of a year now.

It has caused me a lot of problem at work.  The neuro and doc are taking good care of me and my supervisor has been good and has personally helped me a lot and asked that I keep her informed what's happening and also said she will not put me in a spot where I have to sit the entire shift and cannot move around.

I don't know if this will get worse or better.  You know they say you can get used to anything.  The hardest thing for me is accepting that I am not the same worker I was a year ago.  For my husband, it has been difficult for him to accept my memory loss since i've always been the one with the good memory in our family.

I do get hit at work, but most of my hits come while I am at home.

I noticed years ago that when I was busy at work and not sitting at a desk I was fine until I got home.

I almost always get hit at night, and almost always after I've fallen asleep, so no--not often--even back when I was working day and night and whenever.

There have been some memorable exceptions, though.   :-/

Best,

George

During my 35+ year work time I was only hit maybe 2 times. Stay stressed, it's good for you.

In the last 15 years I have owned my welding company I have only been hit once, which I killed in 15 mins.

How I killed it was to open up the 02 valve on the cutting tourch and pull the cutting stream trigger to get the 02 when needed.

I dont recommend this to anyone.....it could blow your lungs out if you know not what your doing.

I work 8 to 5 and never had a hit at work. Evenings at 6:00 then again around 9:00 then my fav, the kip 9 or 10 at midnight. That one puts it in perspective! [smiley=hammer.gif]

most of times I get hit when i've been home for awhile from work,,ate, did what i had to do...then sit down to relax and then boom...they hit

Most times at the beginning of cycle i get hit at night

Once in a while while at work I get hit but they are understanding..Iand I disapear for a bit.
only good thing about that is I know I probabaly wont get 1 the rest of the day....as I get older they seem only to hit once a day..not as painful...but seems now more annoying as I get older..didnt bother me so much when I was younger amd more painful

In 22+ years and from all records, all of them chronic, I'll have to say I've been hit at work or school (at a Kip level that wasn't able to be "explained as migraine) very little of the time.  Really bad hits have only totaled 7 in the last 3 years, and I'm certain that is waht got me canned from my job prior to this one.  I went into a very bad series of attacks after a tetenus shot, and I scared the beejeebes out of my coworkers while I paced and screamed moaned and groaned...

I was canned less than a month later..you do the math...

I've had 2 minor and one major attack since starting my new Job in July.  That majot attack showed my Boss running to the tavern next door to get me an ice pack, let me do "my thing"...

I envy anyone who's never had to look like we do in front of coworkers.  It can and is the ultimate in hummiliation.

I was hit all the time at work. No more nor less, it seemed but probably less. My hits were steady. About 6 a day and I could depend on two afternoon episodes.

I get hit at work all the time. Coincidently, that is how I lost jobs in the past, CH. Talk about a shitty disposition, but I am lucky with my current job in that, if I get hit, I don't have a boss breathing down my neck, and can bail to the next room to ride it out.
However, my client has seen me get hit more times than he should, and it messes with him.

Peace,
Carl D

I get hit at work but they never KIP out like they do at home.
I think it's psychological. We all [allow me to endulge] feel more comfortable at home and therefore hold back at work when we do get hit. Make sense?
