Title: Carnegie Hall - Here We Come!
Post by Gator on Jan 26th, 2007, 2:13pm
My youngest son, Zack, will be performing with his high school orchestra and wind ensemble at Carnegie Hall on April 7.  As a thanks for my helping with his remodeling over the past month, my brother-in-law has given Jane and me round trip tickets to go and see Zack perform, which is way cool, cause we wouldn't have been able to afford to go otherwise.  So exciting!  Neither Jane nor I have ever been to New York, so that makes it that much more exciting.

[catch my breath here!]

So now we're trying to budget for the trip and I was wondering if anyone in the area had a piece of floor Jane and I could borrow for the nights of April 6th and/or 7th?

Jane & Mike - you must be very proud of Zack.  Try not to pop all the buttons off your shirt!

Way to go Zack.

I have two bedrooms available but I am in Wisconsin.  I can't believe that your son is playing there.  What an accomplishment.  My uncle used to play guitar and sing there frequently until they moved to Vegas.  I can't believe this I am so excited for you and your child.  Many prayers going up for a safe trip and a sucessful performance.

You guys can sack out here... but it's about an 8 hour drive to the city. It sounds like a great accomplishment for your son and you have every right to be proud.

Have tons of fun!

with warm regards,
Tony

And Mike, practice, practice, practice your directions to get to Carnegie Hall.   ;)

Carnegie Hall is located at the southeast corner of Seventh Avenue and 57th Street, two blocks south of Central Park.

Ya know, there are artists who try their entire career to get to that place and never make it. Zack, be sure to play well, but don't be so focused that you miss the bigger reality - YOU MADE IT! You are playing Carnegie Hall!

Outstanding achievement, young man. You've made your mama and daddy proud.

Congrats.  Now, better than the carpet room, does anyone work for an upscale hotel in New York that can get him a comped room for a couple of nights?   Come on folks!!!!

If he were playing Branson, I'd have a place for you.

Let's make this work folks..... it's Carnegie Hall!!!!!!

Hell, I'd settle for a relatively inexpensive hotel room close by.

I've passed on everyone's congratulations and good wishes to Zack.  He was overwhelmed and says thanks.

Her is where we stayed Mike. It was very clean and was a great deal considering the prices of the other hotels in Times Square. It is on the corner of 7th and 49th St. No too far away.

Thanks Jimi.  That's a nice looking place.  Looks like it's already booked up, though.  Maybe Tom Bodette will leave the light on for us.  LOL

Mike, call 'em and get your name on the waiting list. People cancel their plans all the time.

Now that I think about it Mike. The web page showed it was booked up when I checked it last year as well. When I called anyway, they said they had a studio apt $160 a night. Had Refrigerator, stove, dining table etc. They did say that they stay  booked up 3-4 months in advance though, so it may be.
