this is very urgent (lol) no but really I made Chilli, with deer stew meat and deer ground meat, jalepeno's, fresh garlic, onions, kidney beans, pinto beans, tomato tomato tomato........ spices were oregano, salt, pepper, chili powder, red pepper, ........... and a touch of sugar (oooh I revealed the family secret hehe)

It taste's blah, what am I missing???  I've made chilli a million times but I never measure, so it's never the same, but this time it really is blah.

Cumin Seed (not cumin powder that was ground 2 years ago and has gone flat)?  Cilantro or Culantro?

Cumin and a bit of cocoa (tablespoon or so)

Slow cook in a crockpot for a little while longer.....gives the spice time to work.

LOL pappy......I would be glad to share it.  And yah if this recipe pans out this will be quite the stinky house!

So far I have added the cumin and cilantro..... I'm gonna give that a bit then go from there.

with garlic and onions in abundance, did you use enough chili powder?

yeah definately enough chili powder........ maybe I"m just too picky cause my father in law just told me it tasted great

well the chili was started last night.....then turned off when we opted for pizza cause I swore it was blah.... I added a couple of the above additions a bit over an hour ago and I think it tastes good now......

No george forman NO.........lol my new xmas hamilton beech crockpot, and it's awesome!

Got to agree with flo that is the only thing I can think of missing. Then as Jackie said slow cook to get the spices cooked into everything.

You know it can! Chili-cheese fries make an especially fine breakfast.  They contain most of the major food groups (yellow, red, brown, white, and maybe green if you put in peppers or green onions).  Mmmmn...

ok thanks for all the suggestions....(yah I had the puree)   End result........pretty awesome if I must say so myself!(and I am not one to compliment myself very often)...... tasty huge crock full and it's almost all gone !

My recipe is easy.

Buy a dollar can of Armour chili, dump in one of those small cans of V-8 and it's done.

Had it last night.

I usually dump a package of "5-alarm chili mix" into the pot and a can of beer (my brother-in-law came up with that one and won a chili cookoff).

Sounds good in cold weather. Think that's what we're having this weekend.

Hmm Charlie, that sounds, yucky easy  ;)  ;)
I'm going to have to try that beer trick next time.  And another trick I forgot to try was grape jelly (my dad used add a spoonful or so to his chili)

Chili for breakfast??

Chili and cheese omelets are my favorite!!!  Yum!



and - i have to ask - Jackie - did you say cocoa???   as in Hersheys??   in chili??  really??
what does it do??  
i always put sugar in......... so would that replace the sugar or would you do both??

cornfusidicated again! :-/
