Title: Re: Heads up folks! Post by LadyElaine1 on Jan 21st, 2007, 8:01pm That is scary. The other day on the news they showed where they were cutting holes in the walls to get into houses. I worry all the time about someone coming in on us. We have a big dog that helps. I wonder if there is a safe place left. |

Title: Re: Heads up folks! Post by Charlie on Jan 22nd, 2007, 1:15am Even though I don't have an attack beagle, in the 43 years that I've lived on my street, not one break-in, assault, or other iffy thing has taken place. I don't want to download youtube stuff. It's too damn slow for me. I miss out on a lot, don't I? Charlie |

Title: Re: Heads up folks! Post by floridian on Jan 22nd, 2007, 8:44am The lock makers and locksmiths have known about for a while - and have done nothing. Just like the credit card industry - to use your credit card, you need to give out your number and expiration date, and once anyone has that, they can suck money out of your account. Decades ago, the crypto people developed formulas to make it possible for credit card holders to authorize a purchase only to a specific merchant, for a specific amount - under that system, the credit card number would be like an address, not like the key to the door. |

Title: Re: Heads up folks! Post by jimmers on Jan 22nd, 2007, 9:56am Flo, The credit card companies are not going to fix something (Fraud) that they are making Billions on every year. High interest rates that they charge because of the fraud more than cover what it costs them in fraudulent purchases. A pin number for every on the spot purchase (No more "Swipe and go") would aleviate most if not all of the fraud for this type of purchase. Jimmers |

In fact make it so he would be scared $hitless (and knows it) if he were inside your house! THAT works for me ;;D -P. |
