Title: Thought to ponder.... Post by BarbaraD on Jan 8th, 2007, 7:09pm I have a question, Like a lot of folks, I have a job. I work, they pay me, I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as they see fit. In order for me to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test, which I have no problem with. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don’t have to pass a urine test. Shouldn’t one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check, because I have to pass one to go earn it for them? Please understand, I have nothing against helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sit on their butt. Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? |

Title: Re: Thought to ponder.... Post by floridian on Jan 9th, 2007, 8:58am Think how much money we could save on insurance if the HMOs could refuse to pay for treatment for clusterheads that had any drug in their system (legal or illegal) that a doctor thought might contribute to the clusters or interfere with treatment!! And why should I pay for someone's $100,000 heart operation if the person continues to smoke? I'm all for providing treatment to people that are sick, but why should my rates go up if these people aren't willing to make an effort?? Compassionate Conservatism ® for the poor is only a start - there is a much larger pool of people to target - the rest of us!! |

Title: Re: Thought to ponder.... Post by Tata on Jan 9th, 2007, 9:43am I think it's an awesome idea that's time has come. But, sadly, I don't think the government will ever do antyhing like it because it will also force them to do something to protect the poor children who are unfortunate enough to be born into households where no one works, or thinks they should have to. As usual, the children are the ones who suffer the most and the ones who are advocated for the least. I would gladly fork over a lot more tax dollars if I knew something was being done to help not only the future of the poor kids of these people, but also the future of our country. Again, great idea. |

When I have gone to social services, etc, everyone there is standing in line yakking on cell phones about their cars while filling out forms. Kinda makes me wonder. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/head scratch pair.gif I suppose if you have a lot of kids? Charlie |
