Title: What A Mess!!! Delays, Delays...
Post by B14CK5H33P on Dec 1st, 2006, 4:56pm
Well, due to the ice storm we got here near St Louis, about 500'000 people are without power... and my pharmacy AND the o2 supplier are closed today, and I am out of Frova. Soooo, I had to switch Pharmacies, and they had to order the Frova - which won't be in til Monday. I just got done riding out an attack at work, and am lucky it didn't go above a kip 6.

When I left this morning, I still had power (Thank God), but the furnace is not always working, and sometimes blows cold air. My brother was working from home, and they had no power this a.m. so he called to see if my internet was up. I noticed the cable modem was down, and so is the cable. Then, I go to take out the trash and... a wire is hanging down in front of my back door.

The cable wire.  >:(

As a consequence... after a month long delay due to technical difficulties... bad software... and other tekkie gremlins, it looks like "The Soylent Radio Show" might be postponed from its debut this sunday - and they have been promoting the hell out of it. I called my contact this morning and we set up a game plan in case I am offline still. I am not throwing in the towel until tomorrow morning, when I am supposed to do my test broadcast. If the internet is still down (which, I don't see Charter anxious to get out working in this mess) - the debut of my radio show will be postponed (again) until December 10th. In any case, there will be a broadcast on Sunday, it just might not be mine.

Right now, I think most of Collinsville, IL is without power, so my brother is gonna have a housefull tonight since they just got power back. Temps are supposed to get down to 11 degrees - and Wednesday it was 70 degrees! The weather changed literally overnight, and it has me hurting!

One other thing to be grateful for: on the radio this morning they said that if the precipitation we got yesterday in freezing rain and sleet would have been snow - we would have had 30+ inches on the ground. So considering all things - it could be worse. At least I won't have to go all weekend without my Verapamil. THAT would suck in the most unawesome way.

Peace,
Carl D

That DOES suck. I hope charter is back on tomorrow for you. We were watching the Weather Channel Wed night and decided we better head out of there and head back to Ky Thurs. morning. We got out just in time I see. I saw yours and kimmies post after I got back. And a pm from JDH. Next time I will let you guys know a couple of days before we head back up there.

Yup Jimi, you made it out just in time. In fact, there have been over 100 flights cancelled, and at Lambert this morning there were 5 planes on the runway WAITING for a gate to unload passengers. I must say, it looks beautiful outside with the ice on all the trees, but they just said on the news we haven't seen a winter storm like this since 1978, and with the mild winters we have had the past few years, alot of department of transpo workers are inexperienced with this mess.

That would be cool if you and Ruthie come back sometime and a few of us can meet up somewhere. A mini meet & greet here near the St Louis area. You never know who might show up.  ;)

With enough notice, crazy Ozarks people might take the ride up there.

I am sorry to see StL got hit hard.  My wife's grandmother is out there in a house and she usually refuses to go anywhere if her power might go out.

Anyway, stay safe.  The 70 degree days are still fresh in my head.
