Title: I must have a high tolerance...LOL Post by Redd715 on Dec 1st, 2006, 1:13pm I went in to the dentist this morning for what turned out to be a double root canal. I took the morning off from work to have this done, and I'm due back to the office for 1PM, and I've had a number of people tell me..."Oh Pegg, you won't want to go in...you'd be best to take the enire day off..." I feel just fine, the novacaine has worn off, and I'm in no pain what-so ever. I never felt a thing while the procedure was being done. Heck I never even felt the needles when they numbed me. I know alot of people have had bad experienced with dentists, but I can't say anything but good things about this guy. I was and am just fine. So how wierd is this? |

Title: Re: I must have a high tolerance...LOL Post by cynjeep89 on Dec 1st, 2006, 1:34pm I'm the same way...high tolerance for pain...go figure? When I do need novacaine, I need almost twice of what they give most people in order for it to be effective. Maybe we are related? [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: I must have a high tolerance...LOL Post by Redd715 on Dec 1st, 2006, 3:48pm Harold, our City Editor, and I had made a bet yesterday. He bet I'd never make it in today, or if I did, I'd be in pain and falling asleep at my desk from the painkillers. Haven't taken so much as Tylenol, and he lost. He actually kept the bet and got on his knees and bowed to me... [smiley=laugh.gif] But he made me promise not to tell his wife... ;) |

I went in for my very first root canal, after hearing all those horror stories, shaking in my boots! I had laid in a supply of chicken soup, told my ofc I'd be gone for awhile, got a couple of chick flicks, and headed in for the dreaded root canal............. I don't have a clue what is different about them lately, but I had not a problem! Go figger...... I'll just accept it!!! Now I tell people not to fear a root canal!!! ;;D >:( ;;D Happy it was easy for you, Pegg! Cathi |

Title: Re: I must have a high tolerance...LOL Post by Karla on Dec 4th, 2006, 8:27pm The first root canal I had done was done by a dentist and the whole thing hurt increadably. Not to mention he failed to get all the root and it develeoped an infection. I had to go back in and I went to another dr only a endodontist that specialize in root canals and was told root was left in there and it was infected. The tooth got pulled and a bridge got put in its place. What a night mare. I went back to the old dentist and told him what was up and he wanted to fix it and make it right. I said I don't trust you and your not touching me. I have had two other root canals done by endodontist and they were both pain free and never even felt the needle going in to numb me!! If you got a good dr you have nothing to fear. |

Title: Re: I must have a high tolerance...LOL Post by Kevin_M on Dec 4th, 2006, 8:50pm Dentistry's come a good long ways since I was a kid. I've a conscientious dentist who always asks about any pain as she's working, and some procedures can be sensitive but there's a certain uncomfortable tolerance level that can be dealt with now and say, eh, yeah it's ok. on 12/04/06 at 20:27:19, Karla wrote:
Had one of those once when a new dentist did one on me, he's not there anymore. An infected root canal can be a whole new world of pain in a couple days, like... wow. But I'd trust my dentist now to do one any time if needed. |
