Gage's Mom wrote the following today on Gage's Caringbridge site:

One of our prayers has been answered, a donor has been identified and has communicated they are available! From the initial records it looks like a great match (12 of 12). More testing needs to confirm the quality of the match. My understanding is the match is from the general registry. It is now up to the donor to schedule an appointment for additional blood tests. As of yesterday no appointment had been made yet. We pray this donor continues to be responsive and committed. There is always a chance they could pull out, so the Search Coordinator will continue to search for back-up donors. So, I am hopeful a back-up donor will be identified from the donor drives because I know this group is ready to act quickly.

Gage's counts are still very low and still the labs so no significant recovery. Pray we will start to see recovery soon!

Pray the donor will continue to be responsive and commited.

Pray Gage will be free of infection.

Pray Gage will go into a good remission with no need for another course of chemo before the transplant process.

Pray Gage's body will stay strong through the chemo and transplant treatments.

Pray for a long an healthy life for Gage.

Pray for all children fighting cancer.

The samples from the Oregon & Charlestown Drives are still being screened and since all of us are committed to donating should we be a match for Gage - it is great to know that there is a match out there even if the East and West Coast drives don't produce a match. And if they do all the better!

Charlestown is only one square mile.

Over 200 people showed up for screening. The national average is 20.

Over 800 showed up to volunteer, to support, and to make donations.

Over $8000.00 was raised to help defray on going costs for the family.

A documentary is in the works focusing on Gage and the CHarlestown donor drive. The producers travel all over the country from drive to drive. They said they had never seen anything like what happened in Charlestown.

Not bad for 1 square mile.
