Today my Doc finally conceded and told mo i DO have CH(after 8yrs of treatment for other headaches and migrain!) Imigan injections will be with me tomorrow morning. Had a bad hit 2 nights ago with no meds, that was fun! but red bull and ice packs did give some relief. Doc not sure about giving me o2 untill he sees how i get on with the injections..... Shedz, don't give up on O2 yet with your doctor. Print out everything you can find in recent literature and around this site that says O2 should be the FIRST line of defense, then on to the triptans. My doc was hesitant to prescribe the O2 as well. You have to fight some of the knuckleheaded ones and, as I did, shame them into giving it to you. I think I basically asked my doctor why he would withhold the best safest weapon that I could get access to in fighting cluster headaches -- pushing him to state what the point would be in doing that. For me it worked but I know others that have had to go farther.

Paul you want both hon, Get yourself on the O2 while you're waiting for the imi to kick in (Or do as I do and go it on O2 alone!) He doesn't have to pay for your o2, its centrally funded and it is a hell of a lot cheaper than Imigran too! Has he referred you to a Headache specialist neuro yet? Don't give up on that either please. Give my love to Debs and tell her I said hi!

No referall either! just said try the injections 1st. two not gonna be enough if i get several hits over the wk end tho!

Will try my best boss. VERY difficult to get in at short notice. only got to see him this mornin after booking appiontment on Monday!

You might want to consider making up symptoms for something highly infectious before finding out later tonight that your girlfriend actually DREW red spots on you ;)

Amazing. A Doc prefers to to prescribe an injectable triptan before the oxygen. Kind of backwards thinking isn't it?

At least you'll be getting some relief.

Chewy you'd be surprised at how many doctors there are like that, especially in Shedz part of the country. Its a farce

Tell the receptionist that you're suicidal and that will usually get you in quicker.

I can't imagine a doc not wanting to give O2 BEFORE injections.

Start on some melatonin at night - that helps you sleep so you won't be so tired. And keep the Red Bull handy.

Better living through chemicals??? I dunno, Shedz, seems to me, Dr would be happy to give you something organic..natural, as 02 over an injection!
Then, there's the $64,000 question....did you get enough stabs to deal with the number of hits?? I'm thinking no.

I hate that you're suffering this way! >:(

Going back to surgery tom mornin to be shown how to inject myself and have been told i "might" be able to see Dr without an appointment!!!!!!! [smiley=huh.gif]

Paul, glad you had some degree of success with the DR, hope you manage to get more tomorrow, I would also push for the O2, as you don't want to be hitting the Imgran every time. keep your pecker up

Hi Paul,

Glad you managed to get your GP to see a little sense lets just hope that tomorrow you can get him to take his head out of his arse long enough to listen a bit more clearly. I am sure you will get enough injections to see you through the weekend and that you will convince him to sort out the O2 ( sit him down and tell him a little about Helen, then tell him if he doesn't you will give her his name and telephone number ;;D ).
I have been using imi for a long time most days x2 and i can assure you i still enjoy that 1 small grace, well i did until she became to heavily pregnant for me to enjoy it ;;D ( if she sees this i am dead).
