Title: Winter Cometh Post by Gator on Nov 28th, 2006, 5:26pm It's 75 degrees and we are under a winter weather watch. Can the weather GET any crazier? The temperature outside right now is 75 degrees. By this time tomorrow, the temperature is going to be upper 20's to lower 30's with wind chills in the teens and 20's. Possibly 2 inches of snow by Thursday. This is just nuts. |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by BarbaraD on Nov 28th, 2006, 6:02pm I'm in the same boat as Gator (LA and TX). And I'm trying to get moved into my new place and don't even know where the heck my winter clothes are (I think they got moved to the barn or somewhere - they're lost and it's going to be freezing). Just hope the roads don't ice over -- I HATE ice (like snow, but hate ice). Oh well -- so much for wishing -- next week it may be 90 again... In Texas we say if you don't like the weather - wait five minutes. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by georgej on Nov 28th, 2006, 10:31pm Supposed to get down to 15 above tonight. There's snow here in the valley, but not much. More in the mountains. I put a heat lamp in Ellen's chicken coop tonight--there's a sort of eerie red glow coming off it now. Looks like the Chicken Coop of Doom. Best, George |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by Margi on Nov 29th, 2006, 2:44pm uh...ok.....yep.....I win the prize. Minus FORTY here yesterday morning - our coldest Nov. 28 in recorded history. There's about a foot of that white crap all over the place here right now. Our homeless are freezing to death. Literally. This time last year, our dog was still swimming in the Bow River. Global warming, my a$$. >:( Tomorrow is supposed to shoot up to minus 2°C - that's about 38F (in old fashioned temps). Wooohoo! Be patient, Easterners....it's headed your way.... http://veryfunnyads.com/ads/24962.html |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by Tata on Nov 29th, 2006, 4:15pm I live about a half hour from Lake Michigan and it's 64 right now with 81% humidity. We're supposed to have a high tomorrow of 47 and it's downhill from there to frigid. Living so close to the big lake, we get lake effect snow, which is when the cold air moves in over the warmer waters of the lake and produces tons of snow. So we get that snow on top of system snow. Back in '78, during the blizzard, we got 6 feet of snow. I have a boat to detail tonight, and we're done with boats for the year. :'( I'm not ready for the next few months. |

Yeah, lots of fun here. i just got back from Eugene. The foothills look amazing covered in snow with the 250 foot Doug Firs. I actually thought about bringing my jacket with me for a second, but figured a short sleeve shirt would be good enough. Its down to freezing here, which is about as cold as it gets. B$ |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by Mrs Deej on Nov 29th, 2006, 7:30pm I HATE living in Kansas!!!!!! The old expression, "wait 5 minutes and the weather will change..." blah blah blah...well....Gator, it happened here too. Yesterday it was 71 degrees, this morning it was 45 degrees and by the time work started it was 20 degrees and SLEETING/HAILING.....SIDEWAYS!! WTF? I stood outside for 20 minutes (in the 20 mph wind) and tried to scrape an inch of ice off my windows. Thank God I parked towards the west, or I'd probably still be at work tugging at my door!!! The genius weatherman is saying that we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow and ice tonight...fun fun!!! Toasty under a down blanket.... Steph |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by JeffB on Nov 29th, 2006, 7:43pm It's in the mid 50s here, ran the heat all night last night. Can't wait for the snow to hit Shasta and Dunsmuir, gonna hit the springs for sure this year. ;;D |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by LadyElaine1 on Nov 29th, 2006, 7:52pm I live in Ga, our bad weather usually comes in Jan. I was sitting on the porch today, I am sitting here with my door open now. With these hot flashes I could stand some cold weather but not that cold! I feel for you all in that COLD! |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by BobG on Nov 29th, 2006, 8:23pm We don't have any of that Canadian lawn that Margi speaks of but we have cold. It got up to 44 today and supposed to be 28 tonight. Same for tomorrow. If you're coming to Vegas this week bring a fat person with you to snuggle with. And, I'd sure hate to be in Denver right now or Canada. [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by kcopelin on Nov 29th, 2006, 8:28pm Jeff, If you make it up to Shasta or Dunsmuir-stop by and say "Hey" to me and Linda-okay. Shasta looks pretty snow covered now. PFDAN kathy |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by Gator on Nov 29th, 2006, 11:26pm Well, the storm got here this afternoon and is getting steadily worse. Instead of 2 inches of snow, they are now predicting 7" - 12" depending on what channel you watch. My son told me there were 11,000 people without power in the OKC area already and the worst hasn't even hit yet. Mt. Shasta is (was) cool. I spent a week there in the summer of '84 while on my way to Fort Lewis, Wa. Slept under a tarp in the back of my El Camino (with a .357 magnum). I had a ball swimming, exploring the area, meeting girls who were traveling up and down I-5. |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by Melissa on Nov 30th, 2006, 9:44am Send the snow up here! Right now it's 18 degrees and horribly dry. :( It's so hard to get into the Holiday spirit without snow. I made one batch of cookies yesterday and will be doing the gingerbread today, but I really need the white stuff! ;) |

Title: Re: Winter Cometh Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Nov 30th, 2006, 10:56am It was almost 70 here yesterday and I saw on the news this morning that we also have a Winter weather advisory. 6 to 12 inches of snow today into tomorrow. As much as 16 inches in some areas. |
