Title: Hey my computer Geek brethren Post by mynm156 on Nov 27th, 2006, 9:11pm My son is trying to install an old game on a new computer. Game is STAR WARS TIE FIGHTER it installs but wants me to install Direct X 5.2 which is much older than that version I currently have. Will doing this mess up the new version? it runs Windows XP Home edition 5.1 Thanks! MYNM156 |

Title: Re: Hey my computer Geek brethren Post by Opus on Nov 28th, 2006, 12:28am I ran into this problem. Basically you make a short cut from the setup.exe on the CDROM to your desktop and then right click and choose properties. Then go to the compatibility tab and check windows 98. Now you should be able to click on the shortcut you made and have the program install. If that doesn't work then try right clicking the setup.exe on the CDROM and see if you can set compatibility mode there. Once installed you will probably have to make another shortcut and use compatibility mode to run it. If that doesn't work try Google. Paul |

Good idea but VM doesn't support video hardware acceleration so gaming isn't the best on it. That game maybe old enough to work though. It may even run in wine too. Paul |
