Besides CH.COM and work.
I use mine for Recipes, I use mine for information to find study units and things JD can use in school. I also use it to make forms for school work and things.
I read all my news on line instead of the news paper and news on TV.
I don't use my computer for games but I do listen to music on here. I make cards when I have the ink. I am a member of several Homeschool groups and we use the computer to talk.
I also use the computer to keep up with all my kids and friends.
How about you? I have always wondered and thought I would ask.

I shop a lot online. Not ebay type shopping. My seeds from England just came in Friday! Can't get back into the greenhouse until this cycle abates because the heat trigger the clusters. But still exciting to get the seeds in the mail ;;D ;;D

I knit and crochet, so I search for free patterns, or yarns that I can't buy locally.

I also do hardanger embroidery, which isn't popular down here. So I have to buy all my books and supplies online.

I also order books online because I like the European editions better. The 'hardcovers' aren't hardcovers, but they are hardcover size.

My friends and I are not telephone people, so we email each other a lot.

Almost every major purchase we make, we at least research the heck out of it on the internet, even if we don't actually buy it there. And more than half the purchases we make are on the internet these days. Prices are generally better, and we don't have to go "shopping", which I loathe. As far as learning about something's pros and cons, nothing better than the internet for finding out good and bad stuff about a product has ever been invented. It doesn't matter how much schlock and hooey a manufacturer puts out about a product--if it sucks, people will say so. I like that a lot. It's liberating--and it burns a lot of expensive and deceptive advertising right to the ground.

From desktop publishing to research to image production to putting a product together for a client, I don't know how Liz's business could even exist without computers. Ellen uses hers for her artwork and her writing and her schoolwork--the net is like a magic mirror to the world--a powerful resource that didn't exist when I was a kid, but that I can't imagine being without now.

So what do we use it for? Pretty much everything, to some extent. We're wired.

I think I may be the only guy I know who's allergic to porn, though. I don't consider it a spectator sport. ;)

OK I am a female and I got to say the truth....I use the pc too look up good looking men to post to my female friends here on myspace in hopes to make them smile or say "OMG where she find that a$%"

I use the puter for my studies; I'm working on my dissertation about online fandom. I use my computer to find lots of general info also.

I'm a media student, but I must admit that I've read lots of newspapers and magazines online.

Then I listen to music online; thank God for cmt.com, where I can listen to my fave country songs! ;;D

I have done my share of shopping online; I ordered not that long time ago the last 2 seasons of my all-time fave comedy Will & Grace, a media theory book I cannot get in this country and film Marvin's Room. I bought many of my plane tickets online and once train tickets. Last weekend I bought movie tickets online. Fun! :)

I keep in touch with my friends online. Some I just email, some I meet at messenger. Mum and I "talk" at messenger also. :)

Which one?

OK here is the rundown.

Workstation:
It's the most used computer I have. It is used for printing, scanning, main email accounts, web browsing,and chat.
I also use it for transferring data from my server to removable storage, configuring my server, recording music from tape, creating and burning DVD's, and burning CD ISO's. It runs dual screens so I can multitask with out having to switch desktops.

Laptop:
I use it for web browsing and chat while watching TV. Also it runs the latest Ubuntu Linux and has the Beryl 3D desktop on it. I also use it for Skype and watching video streaming off the server.

Server:
It is primarily a file server running both Samba and NFS. I also run a Bittorrent client on it 24/7. I was running an FTP server but now I am trying HTTP.

Testing machine:
I test new Operating systems here.It currently dual boots Microsoft Windows Server 2003, and Sun Solarus 10. I will be adding SUSE 10.1 and Freespire soon.

If anyone made it this far you must be a geek LOL.

I use it for various things to save me a lot of time so I can fill in the time I saved with more shit to do. Computers make life easier my ass! They just allow us all to become busier. IMHO

Ok,
The primary desktop, has 3 hard drives with Windows XP. Used for studies, my artwork, news, communications, games, hardware testing.

Secondary desktop has 2 hard drives with Windows ME, and XandrOS Linux duel boot. Used for various testing, games, older software, and net surfing, testing of security software.

My Laptop is a desktop replacement and is used for all of the above.

Wife's computer number one, is used for work, and communications.

Wife's computer number two is supplied by her other job, and is only for work.

wife's laptop, used for games, news, research, banking, shopping, and emails.

Ok, I guess we are geeks... ;;D ;;D ;;D

Oh yeah...
Starting Sunday December 3rd, I will be using my compooturr to pollute the soundwaves of internet radio with my very own radio show at www.satellite11.com called "SOYLENT RADIO with MACK DANGER" from noon til midnight.
I am still learning the SAM broadcasting program and feel like a kid in a candy store. I can slow down or speed up songs without affecting tone or pitch, mix songs together... I feel like I am sitting in a cockpit of an attack plane with this thing.

Right now the format for the show is: from noon til 5pm a mixture of rock, classics, new wave and alternative, and then at 5pm things will go downhill fast with some of the heaviest metal and industrial music this side of hades. Then I will have a spot every week called "The Tenth Hour Tribute" that will feature a different artist every week and since this is just a couple of days before what would have been my guitar hero's 50th bday, the Tenth Hour Tribute will be to the music of Randy Rhoads - with music from Quiet Riot and Ozzy Osbourne.

Today, I have to create a :30 ad spot for the show to be played on other peeps shows. I also have to create a banner for the show. Oh, and I have about 20gig of music to burn off the drive, and reload with 5gig of music for the radio show.
