Most of my day today I'm Santa at the Pet Food Shoppe to benefit the animal shelter.

Three girls in tights and funny outfits serve all my needs.

I dress up, get drooled on, scratched, bit, hissed at, humped and in the end return home tired, worn out, itchey, and smelly.

JUST LIKE VEGAS!

I once dressed as Santa for a benefit. For those who've seen my photo, there was a lot of padding involved, as you might imagine.

I must have been the world's most unconvincing Santa. In six hours of ho-ho'ing and (probably) grisly-looking smiles, I couldn't convince a single kid to get within ten feet of me. Not only wouldn't they sit on my lap, they wouldn't get within reach. I resorted to walking around, handing out suckers. To get their suckers, the kids would stand real, real close to their parents and stretch out an arm as far as they could reach, snatch the sucker, and get away.

Kids can sense that something is wrong. It's probably a good thing there weren't any dogs around, or I'd have got bit.

They never asked me to be Santa again.
