Title: Re: Leftovers..... Post by georgej on Nov 24th, 2006, 10:06pm I think the leftovers are gone. I just saw the resident teenager carting off a turkey leg. Probably headed to the batcave to gnaw away at it in solitude. Yep, no doubt in there chawing on that big ol' leg bone, vaguely illuminated by the flickering blue glow of the computer screen. Could be writing something, or drawing something, or....maybe looking at CH.com. Could be reading this post right now, eh? Bwah ha ha. I'll soon know. George |

Title: Re: Leftovers..... Post by BobG on Nov 25th, 2006, 3:27pm We had 15 people at our house for T-giving dinner. All the leftovers went home with them. :D No stinkin' leftovers for me. One turkey a year is enough for me. Today it's cheeseburger for lunch, pizza for dinner or maybe hot wings and chunky monkey for dessert. I love being a fat gluton. [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Leftovers..... Post by Kevin_M on Nov 25th, 2006, 6:07pm Leftovers are great, I made out well, took a page from the "Chewy Thankgiving Guest Tips" 1. Show up with your own Tupperware. a.) an old pizza box can get the big haul though, and those discontinued Big Mac styrofoam containers you've been saving, great for side dishes. ( skip to advanced section if you saved them) |

Title: Re: Leftovers..... Post by brewcrew on Nov 25th, 2006, 8:05pm Try this sometime. 'Bout 1/2 cup of mayo. 'Bout 2 Tbsp. dijon mustard 'Bout 1 Tbsp. honey 'Bout 1/4 cup of leftover cranberry sauce 'Bout 2 Tbsp. toasted pecans, finely chopped Mix it all together and smear some on both pieces of bread, then add leftover turkey for one of the best turkey sammies you'll ever consume. You'll be kickin' your own a$$ that you didn't double the recipe. Edited to correct quantities and add the honey, honey. |

Title: Re: Leftovers..... Post by LeLimey on Nov 25th, 2006, 8:42pm Brew that sounds yumptious. I love turkey leftovers, by the time I've made turkey curry, turkey pasties and turkey quiches I'm usually kicking myself that I didn't buy two turkeys - one just for sandwiches! |

Post by kcopelin on Nov 26th, 2006, 10:32am Helen Isn't there something called "snaps and bubbles" or "bubbles and something"-a friend told me about it-said its a English leftover recipe that basically involved throwing all the leftovers in a pot and serving it over toast. kathy squeaks and bubbles? |

Title: Re: Leftovers..... Post by davyp on Nov 26th, 2006, 10:41am bubble and squeak is what your thinking of and here is the recipe: Serves 4 450g (1lb) Potatoes, cooked and mashed 225g (8oz) Cabbage or Brussel Sprouts, cooked and finely chopped 25g (1oz) Butter or Oil 1 Onion, finely chopped Heat the butter or oil in a large frying pan. Add the onion and cook until soft and transparent. Add the potatoes and cabbage (or sprouts). Mix well. Fry over a medium heat, turning occasionally, for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with bacon and eggs for breakfast or as part of a supper dish. Dape :) |

Title: Re: Leftovers..... Post by LeLimey on Nov 26th, 2006, 11:03am Kathy Bubble and Squeak can be good with about any leftover veggies mushed up into it, as long as you have the basic onion and spuds you really can't go wrong with it, just don't let it be "wet" or it won't make into patties, it'll break up. Its yummy! |
