Title: What are you Thankful for?
Post by LadyElaine1 on Nov 21st, 2006, 2:02pm
I Thankful for so much! Just wondered what you are Thankful for.

I am thankful for my Mother still being with me. For my children all being Healthy and Happy. I am so glad to still have my husband by me. I am Thankful that my family and I can live confortable. That we have food, clothing  and shelter.
I am Thankful I have the friends I have. I am also Thankful I have friends. This site and O.U.C.H. and the people who fight for us I very Thankful for you all.

I could write a book for all the things that I thank the Lord for.

God Blees you all this Thanksgiving and may you each have lots to be Thankful for, and may many more blessings come your way.

Besides the obvious like family and friends:

I am thankful for the chocolate chip cookie I have in my hand right now.

That I can afford to pay the gas bill and my house is warm.

That my 40 year old car is still running.

 and for all of you.

I an thankful for my Son and Daughter that I am still here to have in my life.  After this past 2 weeks, they are all I want in my life.

I am thankful that we have been able to stay afloat enough so that we still have the house and I can pay the bills with just my income.

I am thankful that the beast has stopped attacking me every damn day.  He is still sitting in my skull but only throws a fit once or twice a week.

I am thankful for everyone here. For all of the kind thoughts and vibes.  Thankful for everyone who took the time to send a PM - you all saved my sanity.

Blessed be.
Tia

Our small family has a Thanksgiving tradition that started with my daughters were ages 3 and 5.  We had all gathered at our house, with Grandma, Grandpa, MeeMaw and PopPop (other grandparents), and PopPop was about to say the blessing, and made a comment before he started that we should each think of things that they are thankful for.  We were all silent for a second or two when my three year old popped up saying "I'm thankful for Winnie The Pooh!.  Since then, no blessing has ever been said....we go around the table and tell each other what we are thankful for.  That's a real blessing.

Same sort of thing happened at Christmas when my oldest was about 3.  Again, PopPop was going to begin the blessing before dinner, and she popped up with "Happy Birthday Jesus".  Nuff said.

#1-10, Friends, friends, and more friends

Financial security

Insanity (A sane person couldn't deal with this, as it's not a rational illness). What kind of headache feels better when you beat on it?

I'm eternally grateful that beer is not a cluster trigger for me.  (Sometimes I dance around in little circles with a Miller Lite, giggling maniacally, in my backyard. Under the full moon. Naked).

Oh yes, I'm grateful I have an 8 ft privacy fence.

So are my neighbors.

And in a very strange way, I'm grateful for the CH. Everything else has been put into perspective. Some things that I thought were major are so piddly now. I HATED irritable bowel syndrome. Really resented that. You know, cause sometimes I would get caught in traffic at a bad time. And that can make for a very squishy ride home. But CH  can make shitting in your pants seem like a hobby.

Most of the time, trying to think of something to gripe about can nearly bring on the beast. And then a cycle ends and I go back to being a bitch.

Love to everyone and have a great thanksgiving!!!

Your tone is definitely friendly, but that is about all that I can tell.

Are you warning me that this group is a bunch of judgmental teetotallers or they just don't like Miller Lite?

Either way, I'm a big girl. And if I don't have friends here, I'll just stick to the circle I've got. Or triangle. Whatever.

Actually Linda, I have been spending an inordinate amount of time reading posts over the past few days. I can't imagine anyone slamming me for the drinking part. The naked part....I can see some stuff coming my way. Is there some way to track my location from here?

No,  I am warning you that the men here can go off on tangents, hijack threads like this one, and make chavenistic comments   when they read things like what you posted about dancing around naked in circles like a maniac.
Kevin asking for pics is just the start.   ::)

Everyone here can tell you I am friendly.  ;)

I know, everyone here seems nice. I've read all the political rants and I still haven't met anyone I wouldn't hang out with over the weekend. In a large group.

You know this rat bastard can bring out the insecure little girl in anybody.

As far as these little boys and their tangents...let 'em take it and run with it. What's a life without hope?

(Trust me, he'll stop asking once I send 'em) (EVIL GRIN, depth of which cannot be conveyed by smileys)

Cynthia,
I think I'm gonna like you!
come to think of it, I think Linda's gonna like you!!

Where do you live and what are you doing Jan 5-7???

I think we need to meet!!!!

Welcome, Cyn!  ;;D

Cathi-who never causes an ounce of trouble.... ;)

OOPS!****
Almost hijacked that one.........betcha Elaine is gonna like ya too!
Lainie,
I, too, am thankful for family and friends. I am gratefully stating that, after 2 yrs now, my mother is still alive, and her quality of life is improving. I'm grateful for every day she can talk and laugh with me. I'm grateful that my grandmother has stopped asking 'Is she dead yet?".and more grateful, I think, that I understand this is what 101yr old people do.......I'm grateful for the fact that I can tell her"No, GG, she's still alive, just like you", and give her a big hug and kiss.....
I'm thankful my 9 yr old grandson has decided "kissing Grandmas is not at all like kissing a girl.UGH!!!".....I think :-/
And, I am grateful that I am capable of doing all the shopping and cooking and polishing and greeting, so we can gather together, all full of turkey, in the den, put our feet up, turn on the tv, and watch ICE SKATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
**well, that part falls more into a kinda dream category, rather than thankful.... but I'm also so glad I have an imagination!!!!!!!!

Happy PF Day to all!!!

Cathi ;;D

Elaine,

I am so thankful for many things.  One is this website that kept me alive, for this I bless DJ everyday.  Then I am thankful for Jesus Christ who gave me a reason to live.  I'm thankful that even though CH is such an all consuming pain it does no physical damage, unless I help it.  When I see what my wife deals with with MS and Ulcerative Cholitis, with no hope of improving, but only of maintaining what life she has I have nothing to complain about.  (Doesn't stop me though. :-[)

I'm also thankful for my family, two married to wonderful caring people, my Marine, who will be home for Thanksgiving and is bringing his girlfriend with, and my eighteen year old son who takes over around the house and helps his mom while I am on the road, and my eleven year old who is blessed with a caring spirit that reaches out to others around her, no matter who they are.

I am thankful also for so many of you who have kept my spirits up when I needed encouragement, even though you may not have known it.  For the laughter I find here that helps to take away the pain if only for a little bit.

I'll shut up before I write a book. :-X

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  (Even my Canadian son-in-law who doen't know what day it is supposed to be celebrated on. ;;D)

Jerry

edited to add, sorry Elaine for the hijack :-[

Among many other things I am thankful that you were not home the day I called to try and comfort you because it seems you were out with Buddy re-grouping and getting things back together, and for that I am very thankful!....Tim

No Cyn there are no Tee Toddlers here.

Just when you do get a chance to meet a few of us, they might just want to join you dancing around naked.  Or at least Chucky might where a pick thong.

First of all,  my list is a lot shorter than Helens because  it takes some serious blunders to get on it & I don't have an eraser.   ;)

Second, you have nothing to worry about Tim. You could never make it on my list.  :-*

Jeff some might laugh about that but I am Thankful for indoor plumbing also.

When I was little we didn't have a bathroom. No tub, or hot water. We lived in my grandfathers Dairy Tennant House. My dad milked Cows for my Garndfather for the house. He worked at a grocery store in the produce department. I think he brought home $20 a week at the time. My Mom worked and they put her pay check up for seven years they did not touch her checks. We had a out house. I hated that out house. My dad he went and bought me a pot to do my thing in so I did not have to go in there. We had to take a bath in a wash tub. It was so small you couldn't sit down in it. Mom would warm the water on the stove for each of us at night. When we were in the fifth grade my grate  grand mother passed away and My grandfather on my mothers side let us move in. We had in door pluming I was so happy, a big tub and a tolit and hot water. It was like Heaven. I am still Thankful for in door pluming.

Fifty cents? Still McDonalds coffee is worth it. Nothing like McDonalds senior coffee and a hot fudge sundae. Best $1.50 you can spend. That syrup is wonderful.

Seriously though, meeting so many of you every year has been good for me in countless ways. I had no idea....

I remember returning from Germany with my folks in 76, we landed in South Carolina and when our car finally cought up with us we headed for Alabama. Thats where my mom is from, she wanted to show us kids "the big house" where she grew up with her 12 brothers and sisters. It was no more than a 4 bedroom house in Leeds, Alabama. That was the first time I laid eyes on an out house. They all had to use it and thats when I realized just how poor they were. Of course she would never and has never used the word "poor" even to this day.  ;)
Love ya, Elaine!
