I do not hunt!! but my co-worker does. I don't have a problem with that but I find it funny when i look out my window and see a big beutiful buck looking in. we live right in town pop.20,000. the doe that visits lets me video tape her-UP CLOSE! animal lovers we are.

I am a animal lover also. I do have a problem with it. Since hunting season started here, more deer are being hit by cars cause they are being chased out of the woods. Also someone hunting shot right for my house hit the camper. It could have been me or JD they hit. Also found two deer bodys in the woods. It makes me sick they hunt just for the heads.

If they are hunting for meat fine but if they are hunting just for the head and can't shoot away from homes. Then I am against it.

I will agree with that I never hunt for the trophy, None hanging on my wall. But I do hunt for the meat, Deer, Wild Hogs, they hunt back by the way, and Rabbits , and even those tree rats some call squirls. ok I cant spell. Only kill coyotes for fun. ;)

good for your nephew mike, sounds like he is being taught properly. As for you ladyelaine1 "TIME TO MOVE" that is not how i was brouht up around the hunt. my dad did it for the meat, which i cannot eat venisin today. Our buck was orphaned last year when his mom was caught in fence at the golf course last year. Stay low,maybe go to your basement for the balance of hunting season. Be carful.

It's most likely not hunting driving deer onto roads it's overpopulation and the rut - the time of year when bucks are seeking/chasing does that may or may not be ready to breed. It creates a situation where the natural movement of deer increases dramatically as males harrass females and chase them all over God's creation.

My neighbor had a bullet come through his game room window a few years back. Even in the heavily wooded area that we live we end up with idiots shooting right behind the house that I have to throw off the property nearly every year. One of the most important safety rules is being sure of your target and every thing beyond it. There are no excuses, I cannot understand how anyone can fire a weapon in an an unsafe direction or not be sure of where they are when firing a weapon.

We consume what we kill, deer, squirrels, turkey, etc., we hunt/shoot for meat and butcher our own. My family prefers deer to beef and pork. We kill and consume 3 - 4 deer each year along with other wild game and like I said, make no excuses.

I am associated with a number of ethical individuals who do the same. It's great to get a good buck but antlers are a bonus. Those that kill exclusively for a rack and/or do not consume what they kill need to stay out of the woods. I consider their actions killing - not hunting.

Please don't label/judge all hunters by the actions of idiots or label us non-animal lovers just because we choose to hunt. As in all activities there are those few individuals that aren't quite right but their behavior refelcts poorly on everyone else.

Hello Tom I am a newbie here . re: deer and cars i agree. iIn my case they are building a huge communinty centre and a high school a few km's behind my house, so the deer are being driven out. We live in a no-hunting area that covers a huge area so hunting does not help with deer pop. Nice meeting you, got to get back to work. talk later.

I agree with you Barry--we have tons of construction around us and the deer have nowhere to go. My husband runs a body shop in town and they are(unfortunately for the customers) swamped this time of year with deer hits. He says most happen 2 hours before sunset and 2 hours before dawn. Be careful everyone--

A great day to be out and about, cold, overcast and quiet. Kicked up a nice buck but paid dearly when he ran out and scattered the turkeys I was really hunting. Just finished skinning some nice large squirrels and getting them into the freezer.

When we get about a dozen of them we make up some great lemmon/pepper/garlic squirrel.

It's a lot of work and takes time to cook them properly but it's well worth the effort.

My son got a 5 pt yesterday, but it seems Texas has changed hunting laws. The horns have to be at least 13 inches apart. His were only 101/2 -- and the game warden was real handy so he ended up with a ticket.

But at least he let him keep the meat so I guess we'll eat this winter.

The funny thing about his "kill" was that he was asleep in his stand and the deer came up and knocked on it till he woke up. Then it stood there until he could get his gun out and shoot it. Guess he got the "retarded" deer this season... :)

I harvested a doe and let a small 4pt. buck live. Hopefully he'll be nice in a coupla years.
