Title: Re: Whats your plans Thanksgiving? Post by Cathi04 on Nov 16th, 2006, 3:30pm E- We'll be here at home, smelling the turkey.err.."turking'....we will be picking up Mom from the transitional care, center and my grandmother from her nursing home. We have friends without family, so they will join us. Dinner will be around 2pm, so we can get the ladies back and tucked in before dark.and after the dishes are done, we'll let the boyz watch football(like we'd have a choice), and my friend and I will begin to drag out the Christmas decorations, all but the tree....eventually, we'll end up at the dining room table, grazing on leftovers and drinking Frangelico....how do I know this?? It's tradition!' Cathi |

Title: Re: Whats your plans Thanksgiving? Post by LadyElaine1 on Nov 16th, 2006, 3:44pm I use to host Thanksgiving Dinners for who ever would come on both sides of the family. After Buddys Mom died, his sister started hosting it. I kept hosting for my side of the family. Last year after Dad died, things changed again. Now Mom wants to host and thats great with me. Then you have the hurt feelings if we go to my sister in laws Moms upset, and if we go to Moms my sister in laws upset. This year I just told them we are planing to go our own way. I am kind of excited about something different. Cathy that sounds like fun! Notice I said we were leaving early, thats because Buddy wants to be home in time to enjoy his sports LOL. Rich just bring your fish and come join us. |

Title: Re: Whats your plans Thanksgiving? Post by Jackie on Nov 16th, 2006, 4:20pm It may just be the youngest son and his girl. The oldest son, wife and grandsons are going to her side of the family. Sue's granny is like 95 or so. I think it's important that they spend this Thanksgiving with her...who knows what next year could bring. I doubt I'll do the formal sit down with just the four of us. But.......it'll be back on next year....my daughter in law ask that I always do that so my grandsons will know it as tradition at Grammy Jacks house....linens, china, silver, crystal... :P Jonny...I'm gonna need some silver polish again next year.... ;;D Wishing you all a happy day...however you choose to spend it... Similar to a sweet potato. Boil until a fork can be inserted easily Refrigerate over night Remove peel Slice in 1 1/2 to 2" round chunks Place in a casserole dish Cover with about an 1/8" of butter Cover with about a 1/4" of brown sugar Put in oven at about 250 until the yams, or sweet potatos are hot. Cover with a layer of marshmellows and return to the oven to let them melt. During Thanksgiving meals I figure on a large potato for three people. There is so much other stuff to eat. |

It should be interesting; Cheese and crackers to start with, Turkey breast, Stuffing, Candied Yams, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Green Beans, Cranberry Sauce and homemade Apple Pie and Egg Nog Pastry Puffs. We all usually watch a movie after while we digest. Already went shopping this morning and bought everything I'll need. ;;D Langa |

Title: Re: Whats your plans Thanksgiving? Post by Tiannia on Nov 17th, 2006, 11:12am Good to know that I'm not the only one to eat candied yams. I made it for my mother and sister in law the first thanksgiving that I was with Shaun and they had never had them before, they LOVED them. I cant do Cranberry Sauce. Especially the jellied kind, just freaks me out. So I make Cranberry Orange Relish One bag frozen cranberries 3 small cans of Mandarin oranges 1/2 to 1 cup Sugar Pour cranberries, oranges from 2 cans and juice from one can in a food processor. Chop until it is the consistency of sweet pickle relish. Pour in sugar, process again. If you want it thinner, our in some of the juice from the 2nd can of Mandarin oranges. Add oranges and extra sugar to taste. Some cranberries can be more sour then others. It is like a sweet and sour sauce that goes SOOO awesome with ham or turkey. |

Title: Re: Whats your plans Thanksgiving? Post by kimmiedawn81 on Nov 18th, 2006, 9:07am I'm making green bean casserole and a vegetable tray with curry dip. I'm headed to my fiance's parent's house for Thanksgiving. It will be me and him, his parents, his sister, his brother, sister-in-law, and their two boys, and probably Brian's grandmother....that may be it. I can't wait!! Brian's sister-in-law is the oldest baby that I've ever seen and the brother and sister-in-law don't know that we're engaged, so my guess is that she'll throw a tantrum. That's always fun. I will post it if that's the case! Happy Turkey Day to you!! |

Don't know what the helll my sis-in-law is making, probably a ham and other stuff. We aren't even sure who is going to be there (besides my nephew and his wife).
