Title: Bahamas Update Post by JimLaff on Nov 16th, 2006, 1:12pm Hello Everyone - Things here are going very well. The doctors say that I am responding well to the treatments. I am sure that a lot of you have questions about what they do down here so I will give you a quick overview on what a typical day is like. I have to be at the Clinic by 7:00 am Monday thru Friday for a morning blood draw. They use this to benchmark how I am progressing and also to prepare my medication for the day. This usually lasts till about 8:00am. From there I will usually take a long walk and go to the gym(the gym here is not pretty. I think that they are using equipment from the 1950s). I then have to be back to the Clinic by 10:00am to pick up my injections for the day. I get between 7 and 9 shots that are to be self injected at specific times throughout the day. I like it better when there is only 7. On Mondays and Thursdays I have an infusion of vitamin c which usually lasts for about 2 hours and occasionally I have a meeting with a doctor to discuss my progression. All in all this keeps me pretty busy. Oh, by the way, just an FYI if anyone decides to vacation here, I did find out today that it is not standard practice to wear a thong on the beach. I was surprised when security asked me to leave the beach due to the fact that I was scaring the children and someone had called the marine stranding center to report a beached whale. Oh well, there goes that $90.00 I spent on my brazillan wax. (KIDDING!!!!!!) Thank you all again for your prayers and support. On the next update I will include pictures. Have a great day. |
