Title: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by catlind on Nov 13th, 2006, 6:55pm post the blacklist of neurologists?? I am currently in the hospital...for headaches, not for CH, for another kind of headache that started as a monster migraine and they admitted me because of failing some silly test about walking a straight line and having heart palpitations...sheesh. Anyway, I told the doc on call at the hospital what to do, been down this road before with the pituitary tumor. He didn't listen to a word I said. He insisted on a neuro consult....uhhh whafor?? This neuro shows up finally, and has the fucking nerve to tell me that she is quite frankly insulted that I hadn't waited in my room all day long for her arrival - I TRIED to explain that I had gotten a CH attack and had done a brain freeze with the italian ice in the freezer and went down to the lobby to get a steaming hot espresso to get some good caffeine into me. Well, to put a very long and detailed story short, this woman stood in my hospital room, with my hubby right there beside me, and badgered me and treated me with absolute beligerance, disgust, distain and insult. Bottom line, she refused to write the orders for the meds needed (which included O2) and refused to even do a consult (one that I didn't ask for in the first place) or she would have to "dictate my lack of concern and responsiveness, my unwillingness to accept treatment, and that I had a problem with seeking drugs and I should probably consider a psyche consult". Ummmmmmmmmm yes folks Dr. Hughes at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha NE is still alive, but only because Clark was in the room with me. So, what do you think? Besides the nurses reporting the situation, which they did, and me speaking with the floor administrator today, (this happened yesterday) do you think I should take this further and report her behaviour (witnessed by another and the nurse outside my door) to higher authorities in an effort to force her to become somewhat educated in CH - or should I just leave it alone and trash her name every chance I get? Ok, I'll check back later, or maybe tomorrow...the public computer was down most of the weekend so I couldn't log on. I should be going home tomorrow (Nov 14) now that my family doc has set things right this a.m. and they have finally found one of the little critters they've been chasing that is from the glow in the dark spot in my brain. What say my family? Cat |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by bothofus on Nov 13th, 2006, 7:08pm WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would definitely persue the unprofessional behavior of any professional doc not living up to their code. You are the paying patient and not some object of her bad intentions. The ego of some docs, who have a specialized degree, can be way out of line. They think they are TOO GOOD to listen to the patient. Don't need that kind of care. As for my opinion, get her money, before she can do any more harm to you or anybody else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Carl |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by Paul98 on Nov 13th, 2006, 7:19pm Catlind, I'd write a detailed, unemotional letter to the board of directors of the hospital detailing the treatment (or lack there of) the dates and times and names of the Dr. involved. Explain what the problem is and have a supporting letter from your Dr. to establish that your condition has been diagnosed. Words from your Dr. will establish that you are not some fruitloop off the street. This action will at least get the bad Dr. on the boards radar screen. Best wishes, -P. |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by Turts on Nov 13th, 2006, 7:27pm thats sucks, to answer the question though, I think there is an OUCH board to post recommended DRs and Non recommended drs. I could be wrong, and I didnt check before posting I hope comes well for you and you get the service that you deserve Turts |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by Karla on Nov 13th, 2006, 7:32pm I would file a complaint with the hospital and powers that be about this dr. |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by Linda_Howell on Nov 13th, 2006, 7:37pm If you don't, I'll be wondering why Cat. That kind of atrocious behavior from a Dr. is unacceptable. Makes one wonder how she treats patients with other conditions much less ones with CH. You'll be doing those that come after you a huge service to detail this to her higher-ups. |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by FramCire on Nov 13th, 2006, 7:42pm I wouldn't expect to get anywhere with your complaint, HOWEVER you should make one. I would write a letter as previously suggested. Make it unemotional and full of facts. I wouldn't expect to get anything back from it, BUT it can't help the Dr in question. |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ...th Post by Donna_D. on Nov 13th, 2006, 8:02pm Cat, Like I said yesterday. Start with the hospital administrator, then your physician, the State Licensing Board, your State and National Neurology Orgs that the physician might belong to and that is just the beginning. OR... We could just send her for a ride in Don's boat :) Hope you feel better. DD |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by Gator on Nov 13th, 2006, 8:52pm Wow, that's just enfuriating. I think they would have had to put me in one of those fancy white dinner jackets that tie in the back, cause I would have seriously wanted to go postal on her ass. I don't suffer fools well, but the ones with the god complex really send me over the egde. Pen phuck her, Cat. Letters all around to the agencies and offices mention above. You aren't the first person this bitch has done this to and unless something is done, you won't be the last. |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by Charlie on Nov 13th, 2006, 9:31pm Yikes! Write two or three different letters and do it on paper. Email doesn't have much effect with stuff like this. I suppose it won't get too far but you never know. Anyway, I tossed out a neurologist once from my room. I was not there for epilepsy or CH but they try to get a visit in anyway. It was one of those things where some staffer pokes in his nose and says "you're sick," and you get a bill for 90 bucks or more. I was no doubt on some fecal register after that but I told him that he'd never get a dime from me so leave me alone. I hope I ruined his morning. Go after this one. Scare the beejeesus out of him. Hang on kid. Charlie |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by Bill_G. on Nov 13th, 2006, 9:54pm Cat, Find out who the head of neurology is and write him a calm , but factual letter of the incident. If possible include statements from all the people that saw it. Probably they won't do anything to the BEECH but you will have the satisfaction of getting it off your chest. God forbid, this BEECH is the head of Neurology this person to address the letter to would be the Hospital Administrator. Wishes for PFDAN Bill |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by catlind on Nov 13th, 2006, 11:23pm Paul98, I do believe you are on the right track. Jonny, do I *have* to promise not to kill her after Clark leaves? hehe As for the rest, thank you all for the support in this rage. I truly can't begin to express how furious I was. That this woman, a supposed Dr. of Neurology......could be that beligerant. The ignorance I expect, which is why I had my files with me. I have a 2 page report from Walter Reed Army Medical Center where one of the first diagnoses and evaluations was done, and an 8 page complete workup from Dr. Tepper at NECH that included the name of each and every 50+ meds we've tried. This information was sitting on TOP of my chart, I wanted to ensure she knew I already had the neuro side taken care of, I didn't want the consult, the family doc on call did - just to cover his own arse. I spoke with DubbleD about this, and I'm going to forward the details to her and to Bob Wold as well, so that there can be a fully documented accounting of this loser neuro in OUCH as well as in the Umbrella Org. I will be sure to include any response correspondence from the Neuro herself (not likely), the hospital Chief of Staff, the Joint Commission as well as any and all neurology credentialling agencies. Man, I am still absolutely shell shocked by this womans behaviour. Thanks for the support guys, means the world. Here's hoping they ship me outta here tomorrow a.m. Of course then comes the fun part, off to the neuro-opthamologist and the neuro-endocrinologist to be dracula's victim so they can track where this damn piece of glow in the dark keeps goin :) Luv to all Cat ......................Oh..........p.s. :-* just for you Jonny |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by stacy3675 on Nov 13th, 2006, 11:36pm Sorry to here about your bad encounter with the neuro I would make a complaint but make sure you call first ask to see who is chief neuro on staff and send it above him/he because you don't want some dr. friend killing your complaint before it gets anywhere. Any good hospital will atleast extend you a call and speak to you on your complaint. Once I was n a hospital in new orleans and had to have a strobe test done had a seizure was disoriented and they put me in a chair without arms while waiting for transport well needless to say before they got there I had fell there was definetly a letter following that crazyness. good luck on your task. |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by seasonalboomer on Nov 14th, 2006, 9:52am cat, sorry to hear about your experience. i agree with the complaint filed anywhere you want to, but especially two levels above her job. but, and an important but. to really get her wound up is to follow up with whover is paying the bill. if it's your insurance, contact your insurance company to file the complaint also to try and have her not be paid. in most hospitals i think a lot of the payment process is done where each different component of your care is filing their own claims, and rarely as one big bill. Find a way to revoke get her bill denied by your insurance. That would be the best payment of all - don't ya think? Scott |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by catlind on Nov 14th, 2006, 12:46pm Again, all sound and sage advice, and for that I thank all of you. I wasn't however to keep completely contained. As I said, the nursing staff, and the floor administer have the complaint, and Angie (floor Admin) assured me ti would be brought to the fore at the next meeting. I will still carry through with the other formal complaints as well. Anyone who knows me well knows I don't engage in words and feelings of vindictive anger because those have very real power; Soooooo didn't wish her dead or anything like that. I merely wished she have to endure (if ya wanna use that term) at least one full episode of CH....and again, anyone that knows me well, knows just what kind of power I believe can affect a person.... So right or wrong, bad or good, in an effort to help future sufferers in this area, I wish this affliction upon her. Perhaps it will help her understand the seriousness of clusters, and she will become a more caring doctor. (A girl can dream) Cat p.s. I'm still in the hospital, now that they have the thyroid and endocrine issues at the fore with measurable differences, they may plunk me in a different hospital *sigh* |

Title: Re: Ok, where the phuck do I ... Post by catlind on Nov 14th, 2006, 6:56pm I'm home safe and sound now :) Head is still giving me hell, but it seems I haven't much choice in that until the endocrinologist can review the hormone levels and decide where to go from there. I do have the Patients Rights and Responsibilities Charter from the hospital, and just at a quick glance the neuro bitch ignored at least 6 of them. I think once I start feeling better this could be quite fun.... Cat |
