Title: Reporters should have to tell the truth. Post by thomas on Nov 9th, 2006, 2:16pm So one of our local newspeople reported today "Changes already, because of the election, many troops returned home yesterday." I found that statement to be ludicrous, so I sent her this e-mail. Do you honestly think that those soldiers who came home yesterday, came home as a direct result of the election? It takes about two weeks to get soldiers out of a theater. Plus, the people who won the election aren't even in office yet. So I'm guessing that you think that your viewing audience lacks the critical thinking skills necessary to deduct the logical conclusion that those troops were coming home anyway. Just another example of media spin. I thought I could at least trust my local station to bring me the facts, I guess I was wrong. The standards in "news reporting" have dropped considerably over the last twenty years. I am not a republican nor am I a democrat I am just a citizen who would like the facts without them being editorialized before I get them. I suppose I will have to look elsewhere for my morning news. Thank you for your time Edit to remove my full name from this public forum. |

Hope the reporter gets the idea (doubt it). Cripes!!! When will those reporters get the idea that WE have a brain and can sometimes USE it. |

Title: Re: Reporters should have to tell the truth. Post by NovellRed on Nov 9th, 2006, 5:35pm I think journalists are rated just below used care salesmen for trustworthiness. Excellent letter. Unfortunately the "reporter" probably believes their own story. |
