Looks like we'll have a new Secretary of Defense.

So I guess we are no longer "staying the course" ?

Add on losing the house and senate to the Democrats and things are not looking good for Dubya.

We will now most likely have Robert Gates of the CIA at the helm.
Will that be a good thing??

At least he has a good relationship with the intelligence committee.  I can't see that as a bad thing.

Had to stop and think a minute. I was thinking Daryl Gates of LAPD/Rodney King fame.  [smiley=laugh.gif]

If George had dumped Rummy a month ago the Republicans would probably be still in majority in the House and (possibly) the Senate.
Bad timing, George.

Wouldn't have surprised me Bob.

Rummy has been around most of my adult life. Big deal with Nixon and an old old target from Vietnam days.

Gates, like Baker are part of Bush 41's old crew. As Tim Russert says: The neocons are replaced by old style pragmatists. Very healthy.
