Title: Now I'm pissed... Post by Redd715 on Nov 1st, 2006, 8:04pm I just watched a TV ad. Political ad at that. (Ihate politics have I mentioned that?) There are a number of ads that have run in favor of the ammendment to allow gay marriage and legal recognition of civil unions in my state. What kills me, as an advertising rep. is when the opposition takes portions of these ads off the internet, and then clips them into an anti ammendment ad, and takes the original message out of context. I'm not writing this in favor or oposition to the ammendment itself, but to chastize a group for taking messages out of context, free for the taking off the internet and clipping them to suit their own agenda. I can't even believe that the station would run the damn thing. It's plagerism in the worst sense of the word! |

No...remember I'm in print media...not television. I know however, that there are some Advertising Reps in any media that have no ethics, even within my own company, and they will take any ad, no matter how illegal, to make sure the revenue shows up on their goal sheets. If they have to write a credit and get their hand slapped after the fact, they'll eat it. It's numbers game for some. I'm dealing with this from a former employee who's accounts I've taken over and she really screwed them to have her numbers show up terrific. Now I have to try to make up the revenue her dishonest actions have cost. |

Title: Re: Now I'm pissed... Post by Charlie on Nov 1st, 2006, 8:18pm It isn't going to get better soon, Redd. >:( What gets me too is that WTF is wrong with the gay marriage advocates? It's not high on my agenda nor do I think it's worth a lot of time but shut up before elections. Don't handicap your side. By making such a stink, you elect George Bush or worse. Makes no sense to me. |

Charlie, It's not the ammendment issue I'm concerned with..it's the stealing of "out of context" clips and pushing an agenda. Each and every one of the clips used as a whole, was run legaly. To clip them, and use the cliped portions as an oposite endorsment to what the whole of the original ad was is illegal, and imoral. Dirty politics. I'm getting more and more discusted with the conservative right by the day. I'm the political ad coordinator for my paper, so I've seen alot of crazyness I've had to deny ads for. I'm not talking out of my ass. I've places ads in support of things I p[ersonally don't agree with, I keep my personal thoughts out of my professional duties. but when certain groups illegaly take and twist peoples comments from other advertisements, I'm hot under the coller over this shit. |
