Calling all goblins and ghouls:

Tuesday is going to be

SPOOKTACULAR

The Social Committee would like to encourage EVERYONE to get in Halloween spirit…come to work in your HALLOWEEN COSTUME!

We will also be having a POT LUCK for lunch. Please sign up in the break room or talk to Gale before the end of the day Monday about bringing something to pass. The following items will already be provided:

-Cheese, sausage and crackers (Tami)

-Veggies and dip (Gale)

-Bars (Doreen)

You don't need a costume, just go as the beautiful witch of the east and bring a truly nice dish like mini tootsie rolls floating in a light chocolate sauce ;;D

I guess, from where I stand, it has a lot to do with a few points.......

1-Is this an office that has that cameraderie? Do you all enjoy socializing together?

2-Is this a command performance?

Nothing is worse than a forced social event- especially at work. If you're not feeling the love, are you going to hear about your nonconformist reaction? is it easier to put some funny glasses on and take in a bite to share?? How does everyone else feel about this?

My office does this and we soo enjoy it, gets a bit silly and there's always someone who refuses to participate, but that is his perogative(I think I know what's lacking in HIS life! ;)).

At any rate, your job performance better not hinge on your participation, coz at that point, I'd go postal.

Sounds fun to me. When I worked at Creative Labs, we had contests for which support groups decorated their areas the best. We were encouraged to participate and even wear costumes as long as they didn't interfere with our ability to do our job. It was a hoot!

I once showed up at an office costume party/meeting looking like Nick Noltes mug shot. I had a boot and a flip flop on for shoes, a dirty bath robe with a shit stain all rubbed in, messed up silver hair and a huge jar filled with mercky looking water with a big pickle in it. Won the contest and got a payed day off!

We have an employee commitee that does the same thing. Some sort of prize is given, pictures get taken and posted for a month. I only participated once on a 50's attire day.

Let's see, last month the place was decorated in balloons instead of getting raise. Morale and spirit went to the ceiling, about like the balloon boobilies still hanging around.

I guess what bothers me about the whole matter, is that most departments seldom ever see the public. I'm in sales. I'm meeting with established, new, and potential clients daily. Sales is the only department that does not get to partisipate in casual Friday because we are to be professional at all times. I can just imagine Reed, the president of Delta Dental, my biggest client calling me Tuesday morning and wanting a meeting in an hour, and I show up wearing a costume? Or how about one of the many political candidates ( I'm the person dealing with ALL political ad's) walking into the office to place some "just before election day" ad's and they see me sporting a tootsi roll costume?

Bars would tend to mean dessert bars of some sort, and if history serves to repeat itself she will once again bring lemon bars. (But I must admit they are addictive and with a good strong cuppa java, they are a little bit of heaven)

I had to deal with something like this once. I did it my explaining that I had no costume and hadn't been to a Halloween party since I was 17. I got away with it because I'm such a sweet son of a bitsch.

I look at it differently now though. Can't hurt.

There is one thing that is remains unforgiveable and that is a surprise party. There is nothing on this earth I hate more.

You guys are probably bored with halloween parties, but I've never been to one and I'd like to. :)

BUT if my job would require me to dress up to a costume I'd probably wear my normal clothes and tell everyone that I'd grace from will & grace. ;)

One of my friends who is a male is going to wear a box that is wrapped with a tag on the front that says "To: Women From: God." How freakin' funny is that?!?
