Title: Whats on the Menu? Post by Redd715 on Oct 21st, 2006, 5:55pm I decided since I'm eating alone, that I'd make Bourbon Steak with Mushrooms, Grilled Texas Style Garlic Bread, and late season California Asparagus and a nice glass of Merlot. What are YOU having tonight? |

Anytime Bethany dear...just make sure to bring the baby too...I have two teenage sitters who just adore babys, and we'll eat and talk and have a grand time! Sorry your hurting, but I's make sure there is plenty of whatever you prefer to drink. I'm usually a Dt. Pepsi fan, but there is a terrific raspberry and green tea blend that makes a faboulous iced tea. |

Title: Re: Whats on the Menu? Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Oct 21st, 2006, 9:22pm Gonna have some baked chicken, some au-gratin potatoes and maybe a green zuccini. Helen, I love parsnips. Earlier this year I had Passover at my house and I made parsnips. They were really yummy, but didn't go over so well with the rest of the fam. Have you ever had parsnip flour? Its just dried parsnips and then ground into a powder. You use the powder to make things like parsnip cakes and stuff. Really yummy!!! B$ |

Title: Re: Whats on the Menu? Post by Redd715 on Oct 21st, 2006, 9:34pm I have to admit I never had parsnips ever. I must be missing out on something great from the sound of it. Recipes please...???? Please Pleeeeesssssseeeee? |

Title: Re: Whats on the Menu? Post by LeLimey on Oct 22nd, 2006, 4:14am Clotted cream is just a very thick heavy cream, its not whipped and its not sweetened, a spoonful of it stands on it's own if that makes sense? Parsnips are yummy Redd! I peel them and chop them into good sized chunks.. they want to be about the same size as you would cut for a roast potato. Parboil them for 5 minutes and then put them into a dish with a little oil (I use light olive oil, not virgin) and roast them in the oven (or you can deep fry them) Once they are about half cooked (30 mins or so)I drizzle maple syrup over them and slap them back in the oven and about fifteen minutes before the end of cooking I turn them in the maple syrup to make them all nice and sticky again and then shake parmesan cheese over them. They're lovely, go with anything and Matt really liked them so they can't be too weird! They usually take about an hour in total depends on the heat of the oven to what else you're cooking - guesstimate as for potatoes as they take about the same sort of time. Brian I've not seen parsnip flour but I bet cakes made from it are lovely, parsnips are quite sweet like carrots so I reckon they would make a lovely cake. |
