Title: I can't seem to get it off my mind................ Post by Sean_C on Oct 18th, 2006, 7:58pm Today as we left the shop, we hit traffic on the main cut through towards the expressway. It wasn't unusual for this to happen, but there's construction going on nearby so we figured thats what it was. When we finally crested the hill we could see about 6 police cruicers, an ambulance, and a school bus. A police officer was detouring traffic and we could see a small black car with the windshield smashed, lots of blood soaked towels on the pavement and the paramedics doing cpr on the gurnie as they were putting the person inside. Thats all I knew, thats all I saw, but I knew it was bad whatever it was that happened. Later in the day after unloading at the shop I stopped at the corner store not 300 feet from the accident scene and asked them what happened this morning. They said a local boy about 12 was running across the street to get on the school bus and a woman attempted to get through without stopping and hit the boy. They also said the boy didn't make it. They were wicked bummed. They said he came in everyday to get the paper for his dad, he was a really nice kid I guess :'( It just makes me think, you just never know if your gonna see someone love again, his family must be in total devistation right now, I know I would be :( Its been buggin me, thanks for the vent, I need to get it out :-/ Sean.................................... |

No need for apology, Sean. It was a terrible tragedy--and what makes it worse is that it was completely avoidable. One idiot in a hurry, and a family loses a loved one. I'll never understand the mindset of people who zoom around a school bus because they're a little late for something or other. A couple of minutes lost waiting for a school bus isn't worth a life. Whenever I come up to an accident I always think to myself...'did they live?', and if they didn't 'I feel so bad for their families'.... I don't know if you've ever read my signature down at the bottom of my profile...."always say 'I love you' when leaving someone dear...." You just never know... So with that...I love you all! :-* |

I don't know what the penalty is around here for not obeying the bus lights, but it's big enough to know that even in a huge hurry and when running late, I would never ever go around a bus or not follow the lights... That's so very sad that happened... Life is so fragile, and some people don't realize it until it's too late...which is the worst part. :'( Hugz, Carrie :) |
