Title: Hey, Dudes, I need some advise on a Moped
Post by nancyc on Oct 16th, 2006, 4:51pm
Thinking of giving one for a Christmas/Birthday gift and need some ideas here.  Not sure what kind to buy or wheither to buy a new or used one.  I know nothing about these things....Saw a dealer who sold "Arrow" mopeds and he has a 2006 brand new for $1500. with tax and tags....not sure which brand is the best.  Can you help this Gamma out here ;;D....smiles, nancyc  PS me and my Grandson, Tristan are doing fantastic! Miss you all!

Nancy,

My advice would be to purchase a moped/scooter from a major manufacturer, i.e. honda, kawasaki, etc. because of the availability of parts, etc.  I had an off-the-wall bike once couldn't find parts and no one could work on it.

This is a scooter 49 cc from Honda as an example--don't believe it requires a licenses.....http://powersports.honda.com/scooters/model.asp?ModelName=Ruckus&ModelYear=2007&ModelId=NPS507&w=819&h=624

Puch or Peugeot, both made nice mopeds.

THis is for my son when he gets home and he does not have a license.  So it has to be a Moped.  We are trying to stay in the $1500 range...thanks for any advise you can give us...thanks, nancyc

My advice - keep the shiney side up!

Don't think Harley has made the "Topper" for quite a while.

If the "Arrow" moped is Tomos....should be okay.  They've been around awhile (the brand).

I know this dealer/friend, he sells SunL.  His prices are great, and the parts are easy to get.  We are getting my daughter a 4-wheeler for x-mas.  350 dollars for a 90cc.  Go with the least expensive, and spend your real money on a Harley V-Rod.

Gopeds are pretty awesome.  My 16 year-old who just got his permit loves his b-day present, a GSR-Sport.  It goes 21 mph and gets him all around town.  It's not quite a moped, but it works and it is 'cool' with the other kids.  It only cost about $500.
