Title: Welcome To The NEW Machine (I'm Shaking) Post by Carl_D on Oct 14th, 2006, 8:58pm My brother Brian just left here. I couldn't thank him enough. My other brother gave me a junk machine that would not work, and my bro Brian wanted to take a look at it. I was waiting until I could afford a new HD and everything else it needed (practically everything but the processor). My boss asked me why I hadn't taken it to my bro's house yet and I told him I was waiting until I had the stuff. "Didn't he tell you he had a HD and everything to put in it?" So, my brother got his hands on it and sure enough, he put everything in it and it was a fried machine. Bad motherboard and a couple of things. I have been so out of it lately that I wasn't sure if I dreamed it or not the other night but I thought he had said he got it working finally. I talked to Bec today and told her I wasn't sure if Brian told me it was done or if I had dreamt it and she said, "It's done, he said he'll even deliver it to ya." I now have a kickass amd 1800 athalon 1.5 gig processor with XP, and the recording software I need to do a real recording - on a machine capable of doing so. I can also do visual production on this thing. The HD is only 40gig, but I can work with it for now. A month ago I was ready to throw in the towel, convinced I'd never record again. It was seriously creating alot of heartache for me. I recently lost a gig with a band due to not being able to make a gig to sit in with them. I now have everything I need to record except my bass, which I will have soon. I have to relearn this whole recording software and how to operate it all before I can start recording again. I have everything at my fingertips, now I just have to get the fucking energy to git-r-done! ;;D Still not sleeping much, still getting whacked with hard CH's and, twice now my puppy has come up to me whimpering while I am in a CH. Freaky eh? Sick from immune system being down and just hurts to move but hurts worse not to. I'll be offline for quite awhile burning shit off of this machine so I can 'pull the plug' on it and plug in my new toy and watch it go!!!! I have alot of mp3's pics and stuff to transfer to my new baby and so... off I go. Peace and hope everyone has a good night, Carl PS - My brother Brian, who knows me um, well? LOL, I had told him I was afraid my days of recording were done, and I have fought so hard to get something going, I'm about to give up. He knew I was serious. He put alot of time in on this machine, and that alone shows me how much he does care, whether he'll admit it or not. I can't thank him enough except to make the most of what it was made for. Here comes from the ashes.... FORMER |

Title: Re: Welcome To The NEW Machine (I'm Shaking) Post by Carl_D on Oct 15th, 2006, 12:19am And we are up and running! Listening to Rob Zombie - Educated Horses streaming through to my stereo since I don't have decent puter speakers, and it sounds incredible! My old PC's soundcard was invented in the days of the caveman and was crackly and shit. OMG - I'll be able to stream audio on this thing and record my next interview!!! Too fricken cool. I also have a webcam to figure out. It is a cheesy one, but someone donated it to me when they found out I want to make some videos to put on youtube (wooooo!) Kevin, the first thing I have recorded, (beit serious or a test recording) will be posted here as soon as it is done. I'm just so excited. and Fred, half of my fricken LIFE would fit into a 'believe it or not' book, like, dodging a flying camper at the 88mp on the Ohio turnpike in 1996 (I have the headlines from the next day. Was traumatic to say the least)... anyway... this thing moves fast compared to 300mhz!!! I need Redbull for this! ;;D Peace, Carl D v2.0 |

Title: Re: Welcome To The NEW Machine (I'm Shaking) Post by Carl_D on Oct 15th, 2006, 7:39pm LOL UnSolved. I was operating on Win98, which half of everything kind of worked, and MS no longer supports 96, 98, NT, blah blah. The thing was like trying to drive a 1934 Ford on the expressway! Annette, I will be doing some 'nice' music to be sure (hey, I'm getting old). But the first thing I am recording will be the last disc from "FORMER" (the last shall be first eh?) The disc is called "The Loss of God" and is all about CH. So um, this one might be a lil heavy for most folks here. Gonna make this the darkest, heaviest disc I've ever done. After the end of FORMER, I have two new projects, one called "Ashes in Waiting" with a female vocalist who can wail! We are doing a cover of Jefferson Airplanes "White Rabbit" that should blow some minds, and maybe even get us noticed. After that I will be settling into my new baby which, I already have the name for, but will not disclose just yet as it is not copyrighted or trademarked, and is too badass to just give away. The style will be a bit different for me yet famiiar as I've done alot of acoustic stuff in the past, but I want to put metal/ funk/ folk/ prog rock/ classical/ ambient/ alternative/ and (ghasp) a lil country... in a blender to create 'the new Jan Brady' so to speak. Hugs, Carl |
