Title: scary symptoms Post by taraann on Oct 7th, 2006, 10:35am I just got out of a 3 day hospital stay. The neuro says I have some major neurological symptoms going on. I've hardly slept for a month (yes a month no exaggeration, usually just an hour or two here and there) I have times of confusion/disoriatation, a cluster type headache that hasn't gone away for a month (sharp pains on my cluster side, but not a cluster) shakes, dizziness (and yes I'm blonde lol) all of these things come and go but they are scary. I'm an avid reader and can sometimes finish a novel in a matter of days and lately I can't barely understand what I'm reading, I feel stupid all the time, the simplest things have become a struggle. Just had some tests done, waiting for the MRI to be done, then hopefully I'll have some answers. Just needed to vent, I'm scared. |

Title: Re: scary symptoms Post by taraann on Oct 7th, 2006, 1:33pm THanks. No I'm not on lithium anymore, they started me on a "new" preventative called Lamactil (not positive I'm spelling it right) and Soma for pain. I actually checked myself out of the hospital against medical advice cause the doc I had there was an IDIOT! I love my new doc. I've also had off and on ringing in my ears, bright spots in my eyes and had my vision go dark for a few seconds. Weird stuff! |

Title: Re: scary symptoms Post by Callico_Kid on Oct 7th, 2006, 3:08pm We'll be praying for you. Hope the results come back quickly and that there is nothing wrong. I'll also ask my church to add you to our prayer list. I'm heading out on a long trip, but I'll ask Linda to check in on the board to see how you are doing. Jerry |

I've been taking Lamictal (500 mg per day) for 6 years for my seizures. It's not all that effective but it's not useless either. It makes me cough a little (common effect) a bit all the time and of course it has loosened me up elsewhere. It's mostly an anti-depressant, I believe but it's used a lot by epileptics. Please keep track of whatever this new thing is. The only thing worse than having it is not knowing more about itl. Hang on. Charlie |

Title: Re: scary symptoms Post by deltadarlin on Oct 8th, 2006, 10:29am Soma can be a nasty drug (I've never taken it, but I know people who have). Just a question though, Soma is normally used as a muscle relaxer, not for straight pain relief. Lamictal can enhance the effects of muscle relaxers. Here's some interesting info on it. Reactions-dizziness, vertigo, ataxia, tremor, agitation, irritability, headache, depressive reactions, syncope, seizures, and insomnia |

Title: Re: scary symptoms Post by taraann on Oct 10th, 2006, 4:24pm Just checking in and saying I'm still alive lol, pc was unhooked for a couple days (moved it from upstairs to downswtairs). The drug is lamactil. And as for the confusion getting worse wow is that true! I think the doc prescribed Soma cause I also have a lot of muscle/joint pain and maybe all of these weird symptoms are tied in together?? That's my thinking anyways I've always thought my headaches had something to do with my muscle pain (dx with fibromyalgia when I was only 15/16 and I always thought that was just a wrong dx) now I'm off on a probably confusing tangent...... Hugs and thanks for all the vibes and prayers. |

Title: Re: scary symptoms Post by Lizzie2 on Oct 10th, 2006, 4:39pm Sorry to hear this Taraann.... I took lamictal for about a year or so to prevent basilar migraine, and in all honesty, I didn't have any side effects from it except for dry mouth. Sorry to hear that it's causing issues for you! And also for Charlie! I just think it sucks so much that meds we take have such awful effects to come with them....even when a med works, sometimes the side effects are so intolerable that we can't enjoy the benefit. It's just awful... I hope they figure out what's going on and that you feel better soon! Hugz, Carrie :) |
