Title: Warning!! Beware of Newbie asking... Post by purpleydog on Oct 2nd, 2006, 8:04pm Someone just joined the board with the handle of Gentle. He pm'd me saying he was trying to add someone to msn that has CH. He wanted me to add him. He wanted to talk to someone with "the thing". His name is Joao. I see that someone posted on the alumni board, the same exact thing, except they copied his message. I just want to tell everyone, be careful what info you give out to people. He has no posts. I gave him the link to the chat room, and suggested he introduce himslef on the newbie board, and read up on the info to the left. Something is fishy here. So be careful, especially the ladies. You never know. We all know each other here, but it takes time. Something's not right. Thanks to a few folks, you know who you are. |

Title: Re: Warning!! Beware of Newbie asking... Post by maffumatt on Oct 2nd, 2006, 8:24pm took me awhile to learn to navigate the board. How many people here learned to PM before posting? |

Title: Re: Warning!! Beware of Newbie asking... Post by Charlotte on Oct 2nd, 2006, 8:35pm I clicked on everything before I got into my first thread. Also, I learned you could delete when someone told somebody else. I didn't know you could get the last 10 posts until this August. I still have not been able to get anyones last 5 posts because my work & home computers are older. I have had a pm from someone who wanted to post, and they did post 1 but only 1 tiem. Charlotte |

Title: Re: Warning!! Beware of Newbie asking... Post by BB on Oct 2nd, 2006, 8:46pm I received the PM message from Gentle asking me to add him to my MSN to chat about cluster. I noticed that he is a newbie with 0 post so I have encouraged him to introduce himself to the Board and to post questions on the Board so that everyone can help him. That would be much more helpful to him than one on one chat on the complex topic of cluster I believe. Gentle, if you read this thread, please dont be shy, just come out and introduce yourself to all of us. We are all here to support you whenever. Annette |

Exactly. It could be that the person is shy and wants to chat with someone first before posting, or it could be someone trolling. You never know. Always proceed with caution. Peace, Carl |

Title: Re: Warning!! Beware of Newbie asking... Post by BB on Oct 4th, 2006, 7:25am Carl, This Gentle person sent the same PM messages to several women ONLY, so far no male member has received his message yet ! Rather spooky from a womans point of view. Annette |

Title: Re: Warning!! Beware of Newbie asking... Post by aubmari on Oct 4th, 2006, 10:25am He messaged me as well and said that he is new here and wanted to know how it worked and was very persistent about asking me if I has MSN messenger as well. I didn't give any info just told him to go post on the message board and that evedryone is here to help. He said it is really slow that way and asked again if I had PM. So sounds like we have all encouraged him to post out here. Not sure what the deal is there. Thanks for the heads up. Aubmari |

Title: Re: Warning!! Beware of Newbie asking... Post by burnt-toast on Oct 4th, 2006, 4:56pm Ladies, I highly recommend giving no personsal contact information to Gentle or any form of personal information - no matter how harmless it may appear. This behavior is more than a little suspicious. Be careful and be smart ladies, I smell a troll on a phishing expedition. What he may be phishing for is anybody's guess. If Gentle is really a sufferer looking for help - he needs to get on the board and stop lurking in the shadows by sending pm's exclusively to the gals. Tom |
