Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by Paul98 on Oct 2nd, 2006, 1:51pm I take it this refers to Lancaster, PA. Who would shoot up an Amish school house for cripes sake? At least the shooter is dead. -P. |

Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by Karla on Oct 2nd, 2006, 4:05pm There is a kid there chasing around Los Vegas NV. Aparently they didn't think it was a student but the school security guard noticed a young guy walking around with a gun toward the school so the cops were called. Thus the search begins. |

Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by JeffB on Oct 2nd, 2006, 5:05pm Just a bit of advice. If you go to Las Vegas, do not wander around north of the Stratosphere late at night. |

Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by Lizzie2 on Oct 3rd, 2006, 12:03am This is just making me sick. I really feel like I'm going to cry watching this news coverage. Lancaster is only about 30 minutes from my parents' house. I just can't believe someone would shoot up Amish school children. This is just so awful....... |

Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by LeLimey on Oct 3rd, 2006, 4:02am It made the news here too, it's stretching my beliefs that the world is a nice place about as far as they can go. What I heard, what he put those girls through, it doesn't bear thinking about. What an evil evil man :'( |

Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by BarbaraD on Oct 3rd, 2006, 7:29am Just heard the news that another girl died during the night. Are these just copycat shootings because they're so publicized? 3 in one week is just too damn much! I'm with Lizzie -- it's making me sick also and I have a grandson in school. Maybe home schooling isn't a bad idea. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by clusternewbe on Oct 3rd, 2006, 9:38am I graduated high school almost three years ago and even in that short of time things have changed a lot. My little brother is a senior this year and he can not wait to get out. I'm praying for the families of those innocent children and everyone else the shootings have affected. What is this world coming to? Hug each other tight when you leave in the morning and say I love you at night. Ash |

Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by LadyElaine1 on Oct 3rd, 2006, 5:03pm I will never understand all the bad things going on in our world. Those poor girls what their last few minutes were like must have been hell. I have many reasons I home school my grandson. This is one of them. |

Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by BarbaraD on Oct 3rd, 2006, 5:44pm Yep and another one of the girls died (she was on life support) and several more are in critical condition. I think kids need the interaction with other kids, but damn, it's getting hard to justify sending them to school. You just want to lock them in the house where they'll be safe. I pick Caleb up right after lessons, but still worry about him while he's out of my sight. I'll be glad when we get to the country. People still have a few values up in Cass County. But the bad part is that it could happen anywhere, so it's a Catch 22. Lord, my son went to a "very secure" boarding school and still snuck out after bedcheck and went to one of the "bad" pool halls in town. But the good news was he made friends with the bothers there and had an "armed" escort when he went anywhere (also a few five-fingered discounts on merchandise he just had to have). The bad part was the dorm parents didn't even know about it till I told them (my son always told me more than I "wanted" to know). So I don't know if you CAN protect your kids unless you put them in a bubble. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Another School Shooting Post by Lizzie2 on Oct 3rd, 2006, 8:29pm 3 of them are at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the other 2 are at Hershey Med Center. CHOP is on the other side of Philadelphia, and it is decidedly weird to see Amish walking around Philadelphia, but even as the news said, this isn't the first time they've needed to come in for medical treatment, and CHOP is where they often bring their children. I keep having this feeling that if the other 5 have made it this f ar, then they will hopefully probably survive, but what of their injuries? At least one at CHOP had a serious head injury...what is she like? I'm hoping she's not in a coma without much brain function... And what really broke my heart today was that 2 who had died were sisters, age 7 and 8 years old. I just can't even stand watching any more about this right now. For anyone who has never been to Amish Country here in PA, all I can say is that having been there many many times makes this just that much harder to watch. The Amish are the most kind-hearted gentle people I've ever seen... They would never do anything like this to others, and it just breaks my heart that they were the target of this awful act.... :'( |
