Title: Okay, Remember The Podcast. (This is gonna RULE)!
Post by Carl_D on Sep 29th, 2006, 3:26am
So y'all know I am obsessed with music and every note that goes into it, every drop of sweat, and every emotion conveyed within its rhythms.

About a week ago, I was interviewed by an old friend and bandmate who does a podcast or, internet radio. We chatted about old times, my music, and of course I got to talk about CH and he even asked "Aren't you part of an online community of people who have this condition?" And I got to talk about Ch.com a bit. Since it has not been 24/7 casting and his puter acts as a server, the link changes daily, and today they were on the air for 14 hours. Anyone scanning internet radio can pick it up but He also has subscribers he sends the 'secret link' out to all over the world and accepts requests via AIM but...

They are getting ready to switch to a 2 terrabyte server which will enable ANYONE to stream, and it will be a permanent link. However, Ian cannot run the show 24/7, as he is a working musician as well. There are a few other DJ's who will be rotating on a schedule and in control of the podcast and....

Would anyone be interested to hear my radio show a couple of hours a week?  8)

They are working things out now so it may be a month before it goes 24/7 but once it does... I will have my own show once a week, can play whatever the fuck I want, say whatever the fuck I want, interview anyone I want, and.... wow - I'll be an Intl. disc jockey!!!  [smiley=headbanger.gif]

Meanwhile, back here on the ranch...
I am getting ready to remix a couple of old FORMER songs, as well as the old ZEAL demo (The band Ian and I were in together) and I will be guest hosting once again sometime next week (I will post in advance and let everyone know when the link will be up). Another thing we talked about tonight is my book, and I may even be doing a 'reading on air' from it!!! He also knows the indie screenwriter and director who is doing the movie I have a bit part in shooting next month, and I told him about reading Wyatt's first full blown Kip 10 to her and she freaked saying, "I could actually see it in my head taking place!"

I also got a call this week from a band needing a guitarist. I was referred by an old bandmate and longtime friend, and I explained a bit of my situation but not too much. Trying to fight through everything right now and make a go of it best I can. Right now though it hurts just to move as I have had a total of 40 minutes sleep since waking up Tuesday morning, and am beyond exhausted yet cannot sleep due to other pain keeping my slap-happy ass awake. I'm just afraid that since I have been cycling so hard the past week that the CH might fuck up the gig, or the insomnia slow down my playing. Nevertheless, all I can do is try and put everything I've got into it.

I told my boss tonight that I need to work out to try and regain some strength, but don;t want to do it while not sleeping. Methinks the heart is stressed enough from not getting any rest, and the way I work out would probably freak it out. Now I just wish I could sleep.

Another plus is... this week (I think it started on sunday) I have been hit on average 10-12 times in a 24 hour period, thus unable to sstay asleep should I pass out. From 12am thurs morn to 2:23am now... only 3 hits! But I can guarantee when I finally do pass out it won;t be for long.

Didn't want to leave any long posts (or books-on-tape for Jonny) until something finally started looking up. Though I haven't even admitted it in my blogs where I am open about everything... the events the last few weeks have depressed the living fuck out of me and it has taken all I have to carry on. Only those very close to me (a handful) have known everything going on, and my boss almost called me into work today (thursday, yesterday now) but he saw how exhausted I was when leaving work wednesday night and he hoped I was sleeping and he didn't want to wake me. I told him had he called I would have been there in a heartbeat. After all, I was awake with nothing better to do. Just keep searching for that light at the end of the tunnel and hoping it's not a train or Liza Minelli with a flashlight.  :o

Did I mention I am going to have a RADIO SHOW???

Sitting on my hands to keep from waving at everybody,
Carl D

PS - This is like a second dream. The first was to be a pro rock musician living the dream and debauchery. But as a little kid would sit at my stereo with a fake microphone and play "radio disc jockey". Considered going to broadcast school a few years ago but life happened.

Here is a link to a portion of last weeks interview where I got to talk about CH and the next disc I am writing for. I was just a tad nervous and had a cold, and was just taken aback by the moment.

Carl,

This is so exciting! :D
I'm sure going to listen to your show - just tell me how and when.

Are you going to play Wolfmother? When I talked about it enough to my boyfriend, he got excited about it as well! ;;D

I do hope that the beast will let you alone, though. 3 hits has been my max this time around and it's hellish enough. I wish you lots of strength to deal with the beast, each hit at the time. Lots of PF vibes are coming your way, bro! [smiley=hug.gif]

Best wishes & PF time,
Sanna

Thanks Sanna, and big hugs to you too.

Once it begins, I will have the link and time here on my profile below. Since it is my show and I'll get to play anything I want....

Oh yes, I will be playing Wolfmother! In fact, I am listening to "Dimension" as I type this - which is my fave song on the disc.
I plan to spin a myriad of music. I love a wide variety of stuff and will be playing stuff from bands old and new like:
Muse, The Beatles, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, Blue October, Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, The Killers, Jet, Motley Crue, DeadCanDance, Type O Negative, Dream Theatre, Cold, The Cure, Godflesh, The White Stripes, King Crimson, Heart, Morningwood, Kasabian, Sex Pistols, The Doors, Rob Zombie, Queensryche, My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode, The Ramones, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, My Chemical Romance, Bob Dylan, Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand, King's X, Tool, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Korn... you name it!
It'll be a mishmash of styles, some shows featuring maybe just one band for focus. I'll also include some comedy soundbytes... and told Ian tonight I can hook him up with some funny audio. Right now he plays some Mitch Hedberg, Monty Python and Bill Hicks stuff. Since it is internet radio, you don;t have to worry about FCC bullshit so anything pretty much goes. I'll keep my show tasteful though. After all, the F bomb is most powerful when used infrequently and at very appropriate times, and not how I usually fucking say it every fuckin other fucking word nowafuckingdays.  ;;D

Peace,
Carl

One thing though: The radio burns out alot of songs by bands. I may play some hits, but I like to play the 'unheard' stuff for everybody so I'll be doing that on my show alot. I won't make any money doing this unless I solicit paid advertising and then I get a commission for the ads. I could care less about that though. I can get advertising for us, but just the fact I'll be doing something I love and having fun is payment alone for me.

Did I mention I can interview anyone I want on this show? How fucking cool is THAT?

Peace,
Carl

Hehehehe. It would take me all day to list all the stuff I wanna play, and I will be taking requests through the week.
You want some Big Audio Dynamite? You'll get it.  ;)

Right now I am just tossing around names for the show, and plan to record my own intro. Every show will start with some classic comedy from Bill Hicks, Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, Mitch Hedberg, Jim Carey, etc. before kicking out the jams! Will also use some Henry Rollins 'spoken word' stuff as well.
I'm gonna shoot for a 5 hour slot on either saturdays or sundays, but it will be consistent and always same bat time, same bat channel (once it is on the new server and 24/7 the link will never change.)

AMP'ed,
Carl

Back in the day, I couldn't see my instrument because my hair hung down in my face... when I wasn't doing helicopters and thrashing around onstage.  [smiley=headbanger.gif]
