Title: Upstate NY Post by no-one on Sep 26th, 2006, 5:27pm Hi all, I know this really doesn't belong here but it seems like the place most ppl come. I just wanted to let anyone know that we are having a small meet and greet on Oct 8th. I want to invite anyone in the area or not to join us. I love meeting new ppl and can't wait to meet Paul who as of right now the only other one that will be joining us. So if you can make it please let me know so I can find a place to meet that will be in the middle of everyone coming. As of right now we are talking about Watkins Glen. but that is up to change if it is to far away from everyone. PF wishes b |

Title: Re: Upstate NY Post by mcf69 on Sep 26th, 2006, 10:21pm Whoa, Watkins Glen is upstate?, what do you call the area north of the thruway?, Canada?, the Glen is so far downstate it might as well be part of Pennsylvania............Just picking [smiley=laugh.gif] I'd love to make it but that's about a six hour trip for me, timed it the last time I went to the Fire Academy in Montour Falls. If you ever would like to get together in upstate upstate, give me a shout and I could arrange for dog sleds and french lessons ::) Have lots of fun and take plenty of pictures. ;;D |

Title: Re: Upstate NY Post by Charlie on Sep 27th, 2006, 6:47pm Sounds like fun. Not something I can make although I am part of that nebulous "Upstate" region. For those poor creatures not from The Empire State, anything not on the Island or from the five boroughs of NYC is "Upstate." I'm in Jamestown and we are really in the boonies. We barely exist. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/mirror.gif Charlie |

Actually it's funny you bring up that accent Charlie, there is a large # of scots who have settled just over the border, in fact they have a huge highland games in Glennghary Ontario, about 40 miles from me. I get both sides of the Canadian accents, the british/scottish, and french since the Quebec-Ontario borders split just over the hill from here. Don't get me going on the militant Quebecers, they're almost as bad as the downstaters ;) |
