Title: DavCon ---- Need your opinions... Post by Woobie on Sep 21st, 2006, 12:22am So I finally got ahold of Rhonda at the Steeplegate today. She said that they would "love" to have us back. BUT - They renovated all the rooms and the room rates will be $89.00 a night now - and that's discounted from 99 - 109 ... Too steep for DavCon?? We could always share rooms and cut the expense I guess.. Also she said they this year they are going to have to insist on closing the atrium at 11 pm. Should I find another hotel ? I don't think another hotel is going to let us bring our own alcohol, and I know the hotels there - none have an atrium like they do. No where to just hang out like that. Anyhow - I told her to go ahead and pencil us down for the last week in January - and she did. I can always cancel. But DavCon MUST go on........ whether it's at the Steeplegate or elsewhere. Need your opinions........ woobs PS - it takes me about 1/2 an hour to post on this website. I dont know why this website and NO OTHER website takes me so long - but this is why I havent posted in a while. I'm still here - just dont post too much because it takes way too long. I tried Netscape and Firefox and IE - no difference. Is the site just slow or is it me? I have a satellite connection, and this is the only site i have problems with. But I agree, 11pm is pretty early to shut 'er down....'specially this crowd. Can we get that hopsitality room again? That wouldn't be too bad if we could retreat there after 11. It's OK with me if you want to try somewhere else but I doubt there's very many atriums to pick from in a town that size. Jim Davcon '07 or bust! |

Especially if we had a suite to go to after. Of course, there is nothing to keep us from taking over the bar. What ever is decided, I'm good with. It will go on! Mike |

Post by cootie on Sep 21st, 2006, 8:15pm NOT SURE if this will help but we go to this 'Econo Lodge' hotel outside of our town for birthday bashes or New Year's Eve or a get away ordeal with friends. The rooms are the cheapest of any big hotel......gotta walk along an outside deck to get to individual rooms too and there are two floors. (no enclosed hallways)......this place has a separate heated pool and hot tub room behind the hotel they let us use all nite if we want (we just have to be sure sumone is in there at all times cuz after a certain time the door shuts and locks)....there is a small but cozy bar upstairs with juke box (an occational band in the corner off and on)....they also sell pizza. They let us bring our own booze in as long as THEY serve it....and munchies for the tables. And they don't say a word about our drinkin around the pool. Got any small time lodge type hotels outside of town that mite be more 'accomidateing friendly' in yer area ? We have a blast at this place.....they put us over to one end so we don't disturb people. There are resturants next door too and drive thrus and they never crash our parties like the big hotels do. I think we had a hospitality the first year and it was very small. They have 2 Conference rooms 423 and 471 |

I'm sure we'll find some whole to invade.... I'll check into this conference suite thingy....... I didnt' see it.. but if Gena says it'll work, it'll work. If it costs, maybe we night owls could all pitch in...... It will be the last weekend in January. I hope we have a good turnout this year!
