Yesterday was (supposed to be) my last day at the hospital. I got into a loud argument with one of our best cardiologists on Thursday.....he's a great physician but with no patience for idle conversation. He told me that I misread a cardiac rhythm strip and I argued back I couldn't see the what he thought he saw. Neither could three old timer cardiac nurses. We got a bit too loud and the Charge Nurse came in and told him that he couldn't talk to me like that. Anyway, in the end he apologized to me and I accepted. He said he was just frustrated about a lot of other things and that he was wrong. I was so mad that I was near tears. I couldn't wait for Friday, my last day.

Then yesterday, the staff cornered me with a cake and cards and they all tried to talk me into staying.....so I signed on as pool and will probably work one day per week until I find something else. I also volunteered to sit at the main desk on Wednesdays from 4 to 8 pm.

It's hard to quit outright. I don't know what's holding me there, but I just can't seem to let go.

I aint got no problem leavin the job im at as a matter of fact, soon as i hit that Lotto im outa there ! ;;D

It's to bad that doc was such an ass just before you were going to quit. Sort of reinforces the idea of leaving

Donna - I think sometimes when we do what we really like that as frustrated as we might get with the politics of the whole thing - it's hard to completely get it out of our systems.

Maybe it's a good idea for you to keep your hand in there. I'm sure you are a valuable asset to the place and perhaps you just need a little more time for yourself at this point in your life.

I'm supposed to retire in another year and a bit and when I think about it - I just can't imagine what I'm going to do with myself. I love what I do but sometimes the rules and regs make me a little crazy.

I know how you feel. Going through a bit of that myself just now.
