Hey o Helen, everytime I see someone says SuperCHenz I think of you with a cape waving in the wind off your back, and nuggie sandwich in your hand. :D OK!! Got one - I made dinner last night so I'm ahead of the game today and my daughter can eat early tonight instead of the late hours we usually eat. That's a reeaaally good one in my book. ;;D |

Title: Re: Something Good Please Post by georgej on Sep 12th, 2006, 11:52am Making plans to take my daughter fishing on Friday. We'll probably head to the South Fork canyon, or maybe The Place at the &*%$% River. The &*%$% is a pretty cool location--we fish it at its confluence with the main Snake River. In the evenings, the rainbows and browns from the main Snake come upriver to feed on the caddis nymphs floating down. They're BIG--heads the size of fists coming up, gulping away. Causes fisherman's tremors. I've got a Sparkle Caddis nymph pattern that I made up that's deadly on them--very simple pattern with a copper bead head and a dubbed body made of chopped red and green Krystal Flash, tied on a scud hook. Works like a charm. Could be some dry fly action on Elk Hair Caddis, too. On the EHC's, instead of the usual twist of rooster hackle palmered along the body, I use a couple of Cul de Canard feathers palmered back to the bend--makes a nice, wavy, leggy thing going on. The Place is protected on all sides by all the poison ivy in the world. I kid you not. I never saw so much poison ivy. Best to wear waders at all times, hose them off afterward, and scrub them with baking soda. And take care not to touch much of anything while you're in there. That and rattlesnakes. Lots of snakes down there. I wouldn't recommend trying The Place. In fact, it is a very good idea to stay hundreds and hundreds of miles away from it. I think a pending fishing trip is a good thing. One of the best, as a matter of fact.... ;;D Best, George |
