Title: A couple of feel good moments Post by alchemy on Sep 8th, 2006, 8:42am Guys I don't mean to bug you about my life but it has been an emotional couple of days (in a good way) and I just need to try and let some of it out so again I apologise. Wednesday I went to the Mayo clinic and a 90 minute appointment turned into an 8 hour adventure. I first met with this nuero who asked me more about my ch's than any doc ever has before. He left and after a little bit came back with Dr. Dodick who some of you may know from the OUCH site. He spent alot of time talking and going over tests the first doc took. They left for a bit and came back with yet another nuero. Dodick came back sat down in front of me and said you definately have clusters ( I had two hits while I was there). I'm embarrased to say I just lost it. I could n't stop bawling. This guy who's way to busy to bother with me held my shoulders and told me to let it out and that they were here to help. I was 4 hours with just the docs, then some tests. then yesterday I stopped by where I used to work and a lot of salesman and management were bitching to me about not getting good work since I left. Then the man who is the number 1 man after the owner saw me and dragged me into an office saying when I get things under control they want to talk. I said you have to beat the 90g's I was making before and he said what they want from me is way above that. kind of blew me away. they were hurt and angry when I left and to hear that offer was a surprise. again sorry for the long post just needed to get it out |

Title: Re: A couple of feel good moments Post by pattik on Sep 8th, 2006, 9:05am Wow, Jim..what a great doctor's appointment. I have yet to connect on that level with any of my personal docs (regarding my CH). It must have brought a smile knowing how much you are missed at your old job. Few of us get that kind of feedback. Title: Re: A couple of feel good moments Post by Charlotte on Sep 8th, 2006, 9:05am Good news all the way around. You are valuable, but these kind of things help reinforce that. Do you know when you will have the results of the tests? Did you take the job offer? Charlotte |

Title: Re: A couple of feel good moments Post by alchemy on Sep 8th, 2006, 9:16am No tests results yet, I have three more days of testing there next week. to go back to my old job will take alot of negotiating on both sides. It felt good to be missed there I put in ten yrs of hard work. |

Title: Re: A couple of feel good moments Post by Donna_D. on Sep 8th, 2006, 9:32am WHEW!! For a second there I thought the coyotes were back and things had taken a turn for the stranger [smiley=laugh.gif] Seriously, though...I am so happy you finally found a physician who will work WITH you in your fight against CH. I know what a relief it is to feel that your doc is IN your corner fighting with you instead of against you. Kudos on the old boss giving you such a compliment :) DD |

Title: Re: A couple of feel good moments Post by georgej on Sep 8th, 2006, 10:14am Good stuff all the way around. Your account of your experience at the Mayo just blows me away. I've gotten so used to being patted on the head or blown off (issues to do with medical care of aging parents, and not CH--I haven't talked to a physician about them for years) that I've just concluded that that's the way it is. It's incredible to hear how sensitively they dealt with you. It's great to have that kind of vindication from an ex-employer, and to know that your hard work was recognized and appreciated--even if it doesn't lead to anything. All the best, George |

Title: Re: A couple of feel good moments Post by alchemy on Sep 8th, 2006, 10:24am Thanks for the kind words. yeah they blew me away at the Mayo. They asked me to talk about my ch's to the degree no other doc ever has and they listened and asked questions. I was surprised to say the least. my old boss, this is the one running the four dealerships they own was a tough guy to work for. He and the owner would fire people on the spot, I was never a yes man I stood my ground when they were wrong and I think that earned they're respect. |
