Title: It's the night before... Post by sandie99 on Sep 7th, 2006, 2:19pm ... the job interview. I'm not nervous, yet, but I have lots of time to get there before the interview. It starts at 1pm and lasts about 30 minutes. I have my CV and all my papers and diplomas ready. I'm going to take it easy and me myself. If that's not enough... Well, I know that there's a job opened at Seiska, one of our gossip magazines. I'm going to apply. It's a full-time job as a journalist! check the mag out at:www.seiska.fi There's one minor difficulty: I do not know all the Finland's class z celebs yet. But I'm sure that it won't take too much time to learn them. There's like 30 of them. ;) BUT, I am excited about my dissertation now. I have a schedule for it and my tutor was, finally, supportive. I've found lots of new books for the theory part and lots of ideas for the research section. If ch will not get too nasty (let's hope that it'll skip the fall cycle!), my work should be ready in December (first draft) and returned in January ( the final draft). Then there's just 2 essays and one test (which cannot be done before the dissertation is done) and I'm done with MA studies! Life feels so much better, when I have 3 people outside this board who support me with ch. I admit; it was strange to have support after years and years going without any. I hope that it stays this way. :) Anyway, there will be a lecture about ch held at Tampere on Monday, September 18. If I can make it there, I promise to write about it in here. If I can't, I'll email the speaker, a neurologist, and ask him for a synopsis and post it in here. The lecture is about the new developments in ch treatments and they have said that people from far away should make the journey as it will be worth it. Best wishes & PFdays, Sanna P.S. Now, lets hope that I will not get hit during the interview... :-/ |

Title: Re: It's the night before... Post by Linda_Howell on Sep 7th, 2006, 2:24pm Sanna, The only time I've been nervous about something like this was when I was was not prepared. It sounds like you are very prepared so take a deep breath and walk in there with confidance and just be yourself. The chances of you being hit at that exact time is very remote so don't even think about that. Good luck to you hon. Linda |

That's the gossip no 1 in here. Susanna is married to our star swimmer and apparently she and Christian, a former Idols-contestant, are having an affair of some sort. She was very, very drunk the other night and he got arrested for some reason. Tim, it's in Finnish. ;;D But you're right... I think in English so it's a challenge to write in Finnish again. This very minute I'm calm. But, hey, the interview is about 15 hours away, so why to worry too early? Why to worry at all... And I'll let you know the results as soon as I hear them myself. I hope that they will let me know tomorrow; some firms like these will inform you instantly. Sanna |

Title: Re: It's the night before... Post by Mattrf on Sep 7th, 2006, 3:29pm Try to stay comb during the interview and act like you have known the person for a long time, it shows confidence and keep eye contact and be sure to let them talk and don’t cut them off, the littlest thing can set the wrong impression. I am sure you are going to do great and they would be dumb to not hire you on the spot. Lots of good luck vibes headed your way. Matt |

Title: Re: It's the night before... Post by paulc on Sep 8th, 2006, 12:06am Best of luck with the dissertation review, Sanna. I must say that you are among the most supportive and sweetest people on the board-always positive and helpful. Please let me know if any German docs or Dutch docs speak at the convention and, if you can, who they were and what they had to say. Again, good luck (not that you'll need it)! |

Paul, thank you for your kind words. :) As far as I know, there will be just one doc, a Finnish neuro, who will speak. But I'll let you know if there are more speakers. Matt, thanks for great advices; I recalled to keep eye contact with the lady who interviewed me the whole time. Jonny, thanks for posting your that! I missed that kind post on the first time! Say thanks to her for me, okay? We need more Finns in here! ;) George, I promise that if I get the another job (as the star journalist/gossip columnist) I will let you know all the juicy Finnish gossip as soon as I'll hear, see and write it. ;) Everybody, thank you so much for your vibes, good luck wishes & etc. I'm sure that I can thank you for my calmness during the interview. :) Best wishes, Sanna |
