Title: Thank you
Post by stevegeebe on Aug 29th, 2006, 4:01pm
On behalf of your fellow citizens of the Gulf region, I extend to all of you thanks for all you have done and continue to do.

I wish to extend special thanks to Tracey, Edna, Barbara D, Elaine, Jim, Frank and finally Jean. I could write about all of the individual offers of help, but I know that you all know what acts of kindness and unselfishness you offered. Those acts of true kindness will remain forever with Dianne and I.

I know that I have written that I would try to make a list of lessons that this experience has taught. God knows that their have been many. It's okay to be scared and it's okay to cry. It's okay to be lost and it's okay to be angry. But, I feel, that the most important lesson I've learned is that if you neighbor need your help, you help them. Nothing has made us stronger and shead our fears more than knowing that we were not alone.

Before we evacuated I had a moment of clarity. After having made the usual preperations, I sat on the steps of our porch and contemplated our situation. The knot in my gut was making me nauseous. I was spitting.

Then I stopped to notice the birds. They had no idea what was about to come. I then thought of all of the other animals...the trees and nature around us. They were going to take the worst that this storm was going to offer.  Some would die, be injured and be broken. But the difference between the birds, animals and trees is the concept of helping your friend and neighbor.  The birds that made it were beat-up and the broken trees have re-seeded but the kindness of a helping hand up is forever. Nothing has made me feel more dignified than the feeling of helping my friend and neighbor.

Nature does not care. It only knows certain things and temporary is not one of them. And temporary is what we are. Be most kind while you are here. It will last forever.

Steve G

If you get a chance, go to last years archive and read on from page 48.  You will see that we did not feel alone.  Thank you all.

Like I posted to Edna.......there's never too many miles to travel for family.  Just not much I wouldn't do.

You helped your neighbors...even though you're plate was full.   Pretty amazing.   Funny how things go.

I still have that T.V. station on my favorite's....LOL.   I saved it...cause there was a man from out west somewhere who answered my call for help in locating you and Dianne.  I had posted on the forum for anyone with any info to please let me know.   His daughter lived in your area...she told him that you and Dianne had left.   It was days later that he posted on that forum the info.   I'll never forget it.

Never worry.....cause we got your back.   And again, remember that when family's concerned, there's no limits..no places one would not go to make sure of the safety of one they love.

Much love to you and Lady Di,     :-*

Jean
