In upstate NY, way out in the country. Most of my neighbors are Amish and these are a couple of their horses. I really wish I could get a B/W picture of the Amish driving a team of horses plowing the field but I respect their religion/way of life and it is considered a form of vanity to have ones immage taken (photo or painting) and is greatly frowned upon in their community. Oh well. -P. |

Title: Re: window with a view Post by cootie on Aug 25th, 2006, 12:48pm Nice picture........we live in the country too and have a nice veiw of a lake and nice board fence with big bucks show cows (not ours, there across the road) and nothing but a big hill and woods behind it view......well were in a valley and are set in a crevice of the valley so we basically have our own valley in a valley. Kinda cool cuz no one can build around ya and can't see any houses around us. I like that !!! But were close to the road out front......narrow country road with TOO much traffic now days. We have alot of amish out here too. They woke me up this morning goin by soundin like sumone was dragging a car upside down down the road.....they had a buck board wagon with a team of horses full of twigs.....probly for makein some sort of furniture. Probly got it from somea the tree co workers clearin woods under the power lines mess. And I guess the noise was metal wheels over a freshy 'chip and tarr'd road'......I have done good with allergy's and all that jazz for sum time now TILL NOW. That chalky white power dust is on everything and stirred up from traffic till it settles or rains and it is screwin up my sinus !!!!! Nothin worse then chip and tarr'd STEEP HILLS all around you !! Dam is it noisey too now. My truck slid tryin to get up the hill to get to town yesturday it's so thick in fresh gravel. Sheesh......country liveing has it's drawbacks Pam |
