Title: Beagles smell so good until..... Post by DonnaHar on Aug 17th, 2006, 12:57pm they do one of their favorite things.......roll in or eat UGLY stuff. Among their favorites are: Road Kill. Bird, cat, racoon, armidillo, squirrel and rabbit, and any other variety of.......poop. Axle grease. Cat vomit. Commercial Dumpster gravy. Any other unidentifyable item. I know full well why they do this (nature's way of disguising themselves) but why MY baby? On the bright side, once they've had a bath and a few mouth cleansing meals, they're back to sweet and cuddly. Funny how, when you're playing with them with a toy, you say "drop it" and they do. My last dog Ralph (named appropriately) would eat and roll in anything. Worst of them would be diaper poop, dead rotting fish, 3lb of rancid Crisco + bacon fat (aftermath of that was frightening) Inevitably, just before I needed to go someplace, I'd walk him and he would roll in stuff. It got so that anytime I scolded him he would make a bee line to the tub thinking a bath was on it's way. LOL. My current dog has a taste for the cat litter box. He will come ino the room with cat litter stuck to his nose like sprinkles on an ice cream cone and look at me like "cat box? what cat box? I wasn't in no cat box!) Needless to say his salivary affections are not wanted. Yuck! -P. |

Buster tried rolling in lots of things, but deceased groundhog and steer manure was the most pungent combination he ever came up with. He smelled like a dead sanitation engineer. Best, George |

Post by Mattrf on Aug 17th, 2006, 2:15pm Went camping with a friend years ago and he had an English sheep dog, we were getting read to leave and the dog took that opportunity to find a pile of people poop and rolled in it to the point he was covered. [smiley=laugh.gif]Talk about stink don’t know what the person ate to make such a stinky poop but dam it was bad. And my Charlotte, aka Diva Dog, would never even CONSIDER getting dirty. She doesn't "do" dirt, the prissy lil brat, but she is quite offended when you point out to her that her breath is horrendous! |

Until today, I had nearly cannonized him....only the very best of memories..... BUT.since it's been brought up, I suddenly remember he liked cat box buffet as well....he used to like to take the litter covered logs....aww, I can't go on! Suffice it to say, I cannot bring my self to eat Almond Roca.... So, Hawkeye wasn't perfect after all! :-/ Blecccchhhh!!! Cathi |

This is why we have a cat-sized cut-out in the wall that is neatly framed with oak trim and laminate flooring, even though it's only an 8" x 10" opening, wall width. Hops can literally walk THROUGH the wall into his potty room and we keep the people (dog) door to that room shut at all times. REAL handy to have a carpenter in the family. Barly's not at all impressed with the kitty entrance and tried for the first little while to see if he could fit his big old head in there and stick his tongue out far enough to reach his target. No such luck, bub. I think he's stopped trying now. Just got sick of seeing Barly with that kitty litter mustache. It SO wasn't a good look for him. ::) |
