Title: Who sang this?
Post by nani on Aug 13th, 2006, 11:59am
Don't know why, but I woke up singing this song. I know who it is...but do you? C'mon old folks...show your age:

You've got to get up every morning,
with a smile on your face
and show the world
all the love in your heart.
And people gonna treat you better,
you're gonna find, yes you will,
that you're beautiful... as you feel....

mmmkay, pumpkin....  just don't bite her or she'll fly away.

And on that note, I'm off to go dig in my garden.  I've declared war on my chickweed.  If I don't post within 24 hours, please send out a search party.

Isn't chickweed a coffee substitute?

You wouldn't want to post a digital of it so I can see if I have it in my yard, would you, Margi?

Charlotte

p.s.   Re old, I remember when Carole King only wrote the songs, before she was a singer.

I used to hear my parents singing it. I couldn't quite place it though. :P

Umm, Char......I think you might mean "chicory" in the coffee, not chickweed.

Oh, and by the way..who sang the Woody Woodpecker song?

You're right.  But I don't know what that looks like, either.  I want to just pick weeds & put them in my blender and be miraculously healed, ok.  Is that an unreasonable request?  (joke)

Well Jeeze, girl.  It's like a weed that chicks eat and I don't know why Margi doesn't just raise chickens.

We can all (us females) stand by our blenders drinking good stuff, singing "feel like a natural woman" or maybe just humming it.

Charlotte

ps  My hubby said Marty Lance (?) did the woody woodpecker song.  His memory is not always good, though.

Yeah, yeah, I garden in my mukluks and sealskin coat, whilst guzzling whale blubber to keep my innards from congealing, too.   ::)

Donald, our growing season IS pretty short, from about April to October, but...I've got about 250 square feet of garden to deal with here, just around the front of my house. (Then 6 cedar pots and 2 more 50 sq. ft. beds in the back yard.)

It's taken me six years but I've finally got my gardens to be completely perennial.  I've got cactus, peonies, mums, stargazer lilies, hostas, bee balm, passion flower, obedient (yep, that's what it's called, doesn't seem very damned obedient to me, though, still hasn't flowered this year!), gladiolas, ground cedar, red clover, jacob's ladder, periwinkle....and friggin CHICKWEED.

Charlotte, Mike's got the camera with him this week and he's off the west coast of Vancouver Island, deep sea fishing.  He caught an 18 lb and then a 20 lb salmon yesterday so, I'm thinking if I asked him to leave the camera home so I could get pictures of my weeds, he'd have a problem with that.  See, my husband usually just goes fishing....never catching. The fish need to be captured on film because none of his Albertan fishing buddies will believe him.  LOL

Here's a pic I found for you though.....it just takes over EVERYTHING :(  I hate it.  I think it's the Canadian version of that weed....whaddya call it again?  Kudzu?  ;)

i ain't puttin that crap in MY coffee.....

I'll send you some of it if you want.  I have LOTS.

update.  Actually, I just read the article with that picture.  Turns out the little bastard IS edible and does have some medicinal properties.  Here you go:  http://altnature.com/gallery/chickweed.htm

Seriously.  I can send you some!!

lol.  The fish are definitely more important.

No, it's not the fake coffee one.  Someday, you may be sorry you didn't find a way to process & bottle this stuff for an obesity cure, though.  And they can be used like spinach?  It's mainly used for a cream for rashes.  Definitely not what I thought.

Not exactly kudzu, either.
