Title: Time to Worry...
Post by BarbaraD on Aug 10th, 2006, 6:25pm
Woke up this morning to the news that Heathrow was under seige. All day the news has been nothing else. DFW is under RED alert and I expect JFK and Boston and probably a few dozen more.

Medicines have to be in plastic baggies (with a script for it). Geezz - no handbags and no makeup. The way they lose bags, I'd be really stuck - they ALWAYS lose my bags when I don't have a carry on.  :)

Seriously, what in the world is this world coming to. And Tony B and George W are saying just go on as normal.... yeah right

Egyptian students missing in US; Israel being blown to bits; war in Iraq with American troops; War in Afganistan with American troops and now Al Quata (sp) wants to blow up planes on a MASS scale.

The hell with Tony and George -- I'm beginning to worry....

Hugs BD

I guess we should just bring everyone home and shut our eyes and hope for the best. They hated us long before George and Tony.

I know Matt, but it just seems like things are escalating right now. All the news channels are just full of BAD news.

I was at Heathrow a few years back when one of the parents of the PamAm disaster, got thru screening with a radio that had a fake bomb in it just to show how easy it was. We were flying out the next day and it was scary as hell.

Maybe all the world leaders should just get in a big poker game to settle all the wars -- winner take all.

The first time I ever flew to Europe was in 1963 and the only thing I was worried about was if the plane would stay in the air and the pilot knew what he was doing. Security just wasn't a big thought on anyone's mind. It seems like the faster we go - the worse it gets.

Hugs BD

Do you think its time that we start to profile?

We know who wants to kill us and its not old black men or old ladys in wheel chairs!...its not our own soldiers in full uniform that are made to take their dog tags and shoes off!...its not a chinese guy holding a baby that they do a second search on! (I have seen all of that first hand)

WTF!!!!!

Don't forget about our friends in North Korea and Iran. And that crazy focker in Venezuela is stirring the pot down south.
What next.......attacks from Canadians, I think we better send troops to Canada, global warming is getting them in a bad mood!
I don't want to be a doomsdayer or anything but I think we are not far from WWIII.

France has been busy during all of this. Every available person with a sewing machine is hard at work making their national flag. You know, the big white one.

We should pull out and act like we don't care.  We need to protect our borders, and stay out of others business.  We have the ability  to kill, but I must ask, "Where's the love"?

We have another not so cold war replacing the "good" cold war. Things were easier with the old hands-on-the- trigger Russkies around.

Let's hope this isn't another 100 years hot war.

Profile away. It's done anyway.

So what would the terrorists do if they WON.......I'm not highly political and must admit I am not sure I see what there GOAL is ? Win by failure Pam

If the terrorist won ? You would be living in theocrocy, you as a woman wouldn't be able to vote, show your hair or face. You would be subject to shari'ah law, this is where you would be puished by the local religous leaders rather than a court of law. You couldn't drink or travel without a male escort. That is if they decided to let you live. You are beneath them, a sub human.

Matt, sounds like you are talking about our good friends the Saudis again.  Now THERE's a model democracy.
Just last year the 'authorities' stoned to death a 12 year old girl in public for getting pregnant when her brother raped her.
We can't let the terrorists win.  We need to start fighting them.

Call me naive, but I'm not worried.

I moved to London few days after 9/11 and lived there for nearly 3 years. Scared relatives called mum everytime something slightly scary took place. I was worried about finishing my degree with ch bugging me.

Back in Helsinki our army has one of its areas near us; I've spent my childhood hearing them practice (and seen them march).

Naturally, back here, the tread does not come from the outside but inside. A serial rapist was caught near my uncles' place just a day before I went to see them.
A nutty axe murder attacked on the underground on the same station I use all the time. I had a classmate who had a small explosive in the classroom...

Something can happen anytime, anywhere! Even here in sleepy, relaxed Middle- Finland where my studies keep me. Who knows?

Right now, I worry more about finding BSB fans to interview and the 2 ch hits I've had in 2 days than terrorists and dying. I've given up trying to understand what drives people to do horrible things to each other. Instead, I'd like to concentrade on making the world a better place, even if it means just the few blocks near me.

Don’t get me wrong I am not for all the fighting but I am a realist and understand that even if we did not go and help we would still be evil to those that hate us, no matter what we do they would see us as satin and try to cause us great harm. So to do nothing would not help us and would probably portray us as weak and invite even more attracts by those who see us as evil.
I am with most that have absolutely no understanding of how some people could kill woman and children in the name of God and die in his name thinking they will be greeted by 12 virgins, they may be greeted by 12 woman but I think they will be dressed in red and have horns and will be far from attractive.

Can anyone here discriminate between a Persion Jew and an Shiite Muslim from Iraq?

Can you look at one mideasterner who is not muslim and tell the difference?

Can we look at the Islamic extremists in Indonesia and tell the difference between them and someone from Thailand who is buddhist?

This is why this is dangerous.
One can not go by physical traits.

We do not know!!!

It's scary

How about those two jack offs from Michigan with flight manifests, cash, cell phones, and maps of WalMarts.
There's no doubt these idiots are here and are waiting to strike.

God I miss chasing Russian subs around the Pacific!

I have a nephew who does nothing but watch CNN , he has about drove himself crazy worring about something he can't change. That is all he talks about day in and day out.

I worry at times about it all, and it scarys the crap out of me. I think of what I would do seeing a family member shot or see JD being killed or worst in the future, none of us know what will happen or what hard times we are all going to face someday. Its like clusters we can worry or go on living the best we can. Loving our family and our friends and most of all letting them all know we love them. If worring would help I would do more of it, but it won't help.
