Title: Re: With the loss of 8% of our oil supply......... Post by Charlie on Aug 9th, 2006, 2:26am What gets me is that it costs me more than six bucks to fill the gas can I use to keep my lawnmower running. We didn't pay that much to fill up the tank of our 1951 Packard. Gas is $3.03 here. Charlie |

Title: Re: With the loss of 8% of our oil supply......... Post by Paul98 on Aug 9th, 2006, 5:50am $3.09-3.12 here. I'm betting it goes to $3.60 by Labor Day and might s l o w l y come down to $3.25 and every body will go phew, gald the prices came down. Same old same old, up 50 cents drop it 25. wait a few months until people get used to it and do it again. BP went 14 years without pigging their pipes to clean them. I'm not a big fan of gov. intrusion but this is one time the gov should look into what is going on. Not looking forward to winter. I'm going to be hauling a lot of wood. Wood last year cost ~$400 for the season. The same amount of oil (BTU wise) would have cost me well over $2,500. Now, if I could only run my car on wood. ;;D -P. |

Title: Re: With the loss of 8% of our oil supply......... Post by Charlie on Aug 9th, 2006, 12:15pm What kills me is that we got all excited this spring when we found a place in Ohio where gas was $2.75. Hard to believe that that was exciting. http://www.kolobok.wrg.ru/smiles/standart/scratch_one-s_head.gif?SSImageQuality=Full Charlie |

Title: Re: With the loss of 8% of our oil supply......... Post by floridian on Aug 9th, 2006, 12:40pm It's not 8% of our supply, its less than 4% ... it is 8% of what is produced domestically, but we import more oil than we produce. |

Title: Re: With the loss of 8% of our oil supply......... Post by Karla on Aug 9th, 2006, 3:36pm It was 3.29 here in Madison. I imagine it will just get higher and higher. I have been seriously researching electric cars and hybrid cars. The electric cars are really afordable. I think we are going to be driving to the dealership and test drive one. This is just rediculous. |

Title: Re: With the loss of 8% of our oil supply......... Post by stevegeebe on Aug 9th, 2006, 7:34pm $2.95 here. As I recall, we had a thread about Oil concerns about a year ago when a barrel went for around $40.00. Our Govenor has sued the Fed's to block new lease auctions off the coast of LA until real environmental impact studies are conducted and ruled upon. Meanwhile, other coastal States have moratoriums on drilling of of their waters. Personally I hope we win. 200 square miles of coast lost last year alone. Texas offshore limit 10 miles...Louisiana 3 miles..? What's up with that?! All I can say is thank God this thing with BP did not happen last August. Everything, everything and I mean everything that we depend on as a modern society depends on oil. 82 million barrels will be consumed tomorrow. We really need to wake up. Steve G |
