Title: Made in China? Post by _Lee_ on Aug 2nd, 2006, 11:38pm How many things do you pick up in wallyworld or any other mass mareting co. are in fact made in china. That in and into itself is not the entire problrm. Ban China imports? I doubt it, increase US exports to China, I doubt it. What's the answer folks? I don't know. |

42. The answer is always 42. Except in Canada, then it's Gretsky. Not to get away from the China subject, but...... Something that is not made in China that we all use is scissors. You know the kind....stamped metal with colored pastic handles and no marking or names on them. Every office in this country has them. Guess where they are made.......... in Vietnam. Guess what they are made from.......... American trucks! Yep, when we left Vietnam in'72 the military left thousands of vehicles behind. Those jeeps, weapons carriers, and cargo trucks have frames and bumpers made of very hard steel. It is excellent for making sharp objects. Guess who owns the factory that makes the scissors... An American (sorry I can't remember his name right now) OK, back to the China subject. |

Well that is the dilemma, I say boycott China imports until they start to cooperate in the world wide fireworks that are going on right now. Economic pressure defeated the USSR, they can do the same with China. |

An Australian Company with its factory in Marrickville Sydney has won a contract to supply & fit curtains & window treatments to a new casino in Macau China. The curtains are manufactured in Australia from Aussie material. That’s a bit like shipping oil to Texas. Cheers Barry |

The Peoples Republic of china currently owns aproximately 20-25% of our national debt they own all that you and I think is ours. The entire personal income tax the government collects is barely enough to pay the interest on this debt to china alone. they continue to loan us a guestimated 2 million a day all coming from the sale of made in china goods in this country. The current size of the national debt is almost US$8.5 trillion (that is eight and a half million, million dollars). This is a sum of money beyond understanding. An example I read, if a person spent a US$1 million a day for every day since Jesus was born, then it would take until about the year 2739 to spend just the first trillion dollars. The US National Debt is allmost nine times that amount. If china were ever to call in or dump our debts it would cause the largest economic failure in the history of the world and around the world. We think we are a super power ha, we are the just buyers in a supermarket and china is providing the goods and we best like it or their wont be any goods down the road. Because we gave them all our mfg operations to keep them happy. Now due to the fact that we (the U.S.) cant hardly pay the financial debts we owe the rest of the world. Our government just recently decided to raise our national debt so we can pay the interest. And that is unfortunately the answer. Keep buying made in China we need to borrow back the money. a couple links http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/ this is a little older link just double all the figures stated throughout only 2 years later. http://www.willthomas.net/Convergence/Weekly/United_States.htm I am Neither republican or democrat just another kid in america. |

Unfortunately you are "mostly" correct. The one thing you did not include in the equation is the enormous power we and our allies have concerning such global events. If you are willing to concede that China owns the USA then you have another agenda that no American that I know of can deal with. As we allowed the Japanese to enter our markets after we leveled their country, we may do the same with the Chinese. |
