Title: Another succesful "Patriot Guard Mission" Post by tanner on Aug 1st, 2006, 11:08pm I am home safe and sound from a "Patriot Guard Mission" in Fayetteville NC today to honor SSGT Michael A Dickinson II of Battle Creek Michigan who was killed in Iraq while on a special ops mission to save some surrounded Marines. He gave his all for his fellow soldiers and it was a great honor to help show his family how much we appreciate his sacrifice. We had 200 members from all over the eastern seaboard and from as far away as Mich. make it for today's tribute. We had 4 cases of heat exhaustion (105 in the shade) and one rider down at the initial rally point. A bad start for the day especially as he was one of the guys that had come all the way from Michigan to attend. We also had one member who got hit with Kip 8 HA's very suddenly and feels very lucky to have made the 200 mile drive home, but I won't mention any names. I will post this one pic for now as a reminder to please be aware of your cycle riding fellow citizens as it only takes one second of inattention to cause a very bad day. I was standing behind (duh) the camera when this very avoidable accident happened. The good news is that he suffered a broken hip and it could have been so much worse. He just felt terrible for not being able to attend the service! Peace, and PFDAN's to all!................Tim http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i82/thunderbirdblue6/Dickenson/DSCN4606.jpg |
